Ey all of you. I have several great ideas for a game, of course right. We all do here I'm sure, we know how to make things fun. Now, I have no idea of where to go or what to do when I get there regarding the creation of a game using the BYOND site. I looked at the, "Your First World" tutorial, and it didnt help me any. I want to know how you get to a fresh start, and I'm sure that theres some programming information on the BYOND site that will get me started. I mean, the WORLD tutorial was ok, but is that all there is? Bah, I'm totally confused man, I mean, when I get into the whole programming thing I want to be able to make my characters look the way I want them too, and set up a battle system and system of gameplay that will be enjoyable to any seeking a deep experience. What I'm looking for is the information that will take me directly to the creation of a new game. Where do I go? I'll look for it, and maybe I seem like a very stupid person for not realizing the simplicity of the whole deal, but this is all new to me. I'll try one of the chat games and search for info there too. If any of you understand what I am looking for, then please respond and I can tell ya, I shall greatly appreciate your expression of concern.

That demo is ABSOLUTELY 100% TERRIBLE. FORGET EVERYTHING YOU'VE LEARNED FROM IT.
The Tutorial link on the left is better. [edit]Because I'm probably going to be told WHY it's bad, the reasons are pretty much as follows: 1. It uses usr in procs. That's terrible. 2. It has an equipment system that is terrible and overly complex. 3. It overuses usr, which isn't bad in itself, but isn't a good thing to learn, because it leads to worse errors (see #1). 4. The comments explain things poorly. 5. Did I mention that it abuses usr? That is the #1 mistake newbies make, due to demos like this. 6. It has terrible grammar. 7. usr is plastered everywhere, even where it doesn't belong, and where it isn't needed. |
I understand as well I am a newb at this myself twice over ='( Anyway Your first world tutorial is a bit confusing yes but what i suggest to you as somthing to start off on is Zilals tutorial it's the best she explains it really well but some parts are a bit complex but it will get you on your way if your looking to make an rpg/action game i hope this helps you and one last thing
I know it sounds lame and everything but DO NOT GIVE UP if you get stuck with an error think to your best how you can fix it dont just give up try and try again you are as good as you want to be... it just takes time anyway like above i hope i helped you and keep trying... ^^ Myuustu |

open the code files and begin, READ the comments, dont just look @ it and go, "OMG its looks to hard" believe me its not! just read it then try adding things and modifying things, you wont get to where you want to be for some time, but when you get there youll know what your doing!
