Zeta rips are the plague that will eventually bring BYOND to it's knees. Once upon a time, someone(I forget who) made a DBZ game, and somehow the source code was leaked. Many newbs decided to take the source, pretend it was their own game, and put it up. TONS of people copied the original rippers and did it too. For some unknown reason, people are still entertained by these games, and they fill up BYOND. And this is the cause of the great plague.

Dracon created it originally, Im preety sure it was th mapper that leaked it. Raekwon has the rights to it now |

I'm pretty sure it was someone who pretended to be the new mapper, and for some reason someone else had the source and gave it to him and he made good money from selling it.

There are quite a few resources out there that will help you learn. One is the DM Guide, you can find a link to it at the left under Resources. It's pretty helpful, and should be very helpful. There are also some tutorials, you can find some good ones here- http://www.byondscape.com/ ascape.dmb?type=%2FForm%2FSearch&query=&category=Tutorials . You can find many libraries on specific things, that will prove to be very helpful(usually).
I hope this was a help. <EDIT> I just realized that the Tutorials link ,under the DM Guide link, goes to the same place I linked to. |

It wasn't the mapper. On the official Zeta website (http://dbzeta.com), it stated that someone pretended to be a coder for the game saying that Dracon wanted an update in for something and they blew the coding world-wide. That's partically why BYOND banned the use of using hub entrys to sell coding that isn't your own.

Artekia beat me to it. =) The DM Guide is slightly out of date, but it's the best of the bunch.
By the way, the "Loch" in "Loch Ness Monster" means "lake". "Loch Ness Monster" is, quite literally, the monster of Lake Ness. |
Good :)
My advice? Stay away from DBZ games. All of them. 99.9999% of them are rips of a now-old game called "Dragonball Zeta". Anyway, if you'd like to learn to code, go and read the excellent tutorial, The Blue Book (Now called the "DM Guide"). Also, for more specific things, the DM Ref is great. Finally, if you find the DM Guide too wordy, you can start by reading ZBT (Zilal's Beginner Tutorial). Remember though, when you're done with ZBT, assuming you decide to go that route, make sure to read the DM Guide/Blue Book; it's probably the best tutorial here on BYOND. However, personally, I recommend starting with the Blue Book, because if you start with ZBT, you'll have to switch to the Blue Book when you're done reading it. If you don't understand something, reread the text which you don't understand, and if you still don't understand it, just post in Newbie Central, and someone is sure to help you. FYI, the Blue Book got its name because it used to be a real book, as opposed to an online resource, and the cover was blue. Welcome to BYOND :) |
