Thank you Foomer. not only that i am also wanting to fix this now incase i ever did wana host it off my computer and not spend money to get somebody else to do so.

well i probly wont do it... but i figure if i fix this problem it will also fix the problem where i host stuff using dream daemon and then cant join the game using byond. i mean its annoying. so not only that i can join games i host unless i am hosting them through Dream Seeker and then only the window its being hosted on i can play in.

If you have a good connection and the games aren't sucking bandwidth like there's no tomorrow, you shouldn't have to worry about it too much. I don't suppose there's really much difference between having 10 players in one game, or 5 players in one game and 5 players in another. |

I dunno...didn't Aaiko say Seika 2 took up 90% of his CPU?
Or was that due to another reason? |

I wonder how many of these "Chatty" threads consist of, "I'm right." "No I'm right." "No, I'm right." "No you're not, I'm right." "I'm still right." "No I'm right." ...

Er, I don't see that I'm doing anything wrong.
We were just discussing it, then I mentioned Aaiko's Seika 2 taking up a lot of CPU. And yeah, like you said: Chatters was down (at that moment). |
Have you tried hosting the first game on 6113, and then hosting the second game on 6112? Which one works then?
(I guess what I'm saying is: Is it dependent on the port you use, or on which game is hosted first?) |
Basically what's happening is you have port 6112 opened (forwarded) in your modem/router's configuration. Call your ISP back and ask them how port forwarding works, then open the second port you wish to host from, or even a range of ports if you want.
As for the posts further down, if a game is programmed well it shouldn't push above 15% CPU at anytime. Hosting two games doesn't halve your bandwidth, your bandwidth usage is based on the game's resources and how many people join said game. (In the case of a textbased game this is minimal and shouldn't effect your bandwidth all that much.) In summary, hosting two textbased games is fine as long as they're programmed good, I've even hosted two on dial-up without any noticable lag. Good luck. |
Not only will this cause lag in both games, but eat up CPU like anything.
Have one good, well hosted game instead of two terribly-laggy games.
Seriously...why would you want to host two?
It doesn't even make sense, regardless of whether you can do it or not.
