Is there any way to use turfs without putting them on the map?

Any other way to put any number of Turfs in a list w/o them requiring something on the map?

No, there isn't. A turf is by definition part of the map. You can't have an abstract turf because it is its own physical location. (Note that I didn't say "its own loc", because a turf's loc is the area it's in.)
