Apparently our servers are housed in the same building as theirs. Nasty.

http://blog.dreamhost.com/2006/08/01/ anatomy-of-an-ongoing-disaster/

Our hosting company says:
As some of you may know, we are co-located with Switch and Data in The Garland Building in downtown L.A.

. . .

Companies like iPowerWeb, Media Temple, BroadSpire, and even MySpace (now the most popular website in the whole US!) are in there. It's got FIVE huge generators, UPS for the whole building, on two separate power grids, and a dedicated engineering staff to make it all work flawlessly. Or so we were all assured.

From now on, I'm blaming MySpace for any BYOND outages.
Ouch.
Ahh, balls.
HEY WELL AT LEAST THERE'S NONE OF THE DRAMA OF MYSPACE RIGHT??

RIGHT??
And they both have annoying horny adolescents!
Elation: They have so much drama it is leaking onto the BYOND servers, a drama overflow, if you will.
It's all fitting together now..the drama, and the 900 outages a day are linked to myspace. THAT'S IT! MySpace must die!
<_<;

Does that mean everytime I flood MySpace, it hurts BYOND? :(
Oh I was going for whiny preteens.

:(
Who writes those articles? I love the pictures!

*Edit* Nevermind. I had the thought of actually checking the page, and bam! There it was!
And the creators first names are Tom?
Josh actually. Josh Jones. As far as I can tell, the one who is writing the entry is a staff member of the company that host's Byond's servers, as well as MySpace's.

I hope the owner of the The Garland Building decides to renew the lease! We need those new generators stat! What with all the global warming and genetic engineering (Zombies!!!) going around these days.

"The replacement/repair cost might be around $80,000"
All I have to say is "Ouch". Is there any chance of this increasing Byond's server costs? :(
Oh god. Myspace? no wonder. One look at the bandwidth-hogging HTML myspace uses is enough to make one puke. Well, at least respectable News Corporation is working to improve the problem ;)
I've sent membership money on Thursday and its Monday did it go to you yet?
Ok its activate now :) and I forgot to intruduce myself, just call me Gem lol ight man see ya around.
Thats amazing xD!

You know you guys could use that for advertizement =O
No use MySpace, ungh.

Here I sit in the library, and I swear, no matter what time you come in here, there is at least one, and more often two or three, people logged into MySpace. It's so sad. I hope MySpace gets its own space soon. Being this close to that much ignorance and brain-melting rubbish can't be good for BYOND. :P

Well yeah, but doesn't that mean we have more advanced technology? The backup grids, backup power supply, thanks to myspace?
Hey, yeah! With all of the money undoubtedly being thrown at MySpace, the infrastructure in that place must be rock-solid!

Of course, it also means that if anyone starts taking pot-shots at MySpace (and why not?), BYOND might become collateral damage...
