How do I edit games? I want to change one game to allow for different colors with the character icons.

You can't, unless the person/s who wrote the game specifically release the source code.
|
You use an RSC Editor to swap out the icons you don't want for ones that you would rather have. Or, you can request that the person making the game include options for replacing icons.

That helpe A LOT, but I also would like to know one more thing.
I want to edit "Dragon Warrior Online" which has the source code, but I want to have it to where I can chance the colors such as in DW: Shadows of Erdrick. I like DW Online better, but Shadows of Erdrick has REALLY good avatar icon customization. It has it where you can change 4 different colors in the icons characters. How would I go about doing that? |

Make the icons yourselves, most likely.

Okay, I'll just do that, it is easier! :)
Thanks everyone! VERY helpful. |
I am having a lot of trouble finding a RSC Editor. All the ones I have downloaded, there is nothing to run them. They are just files, no executable file.

Well, there are many sorts of RSC editors, too. As far as I know, the only BYONDers who have created editors for BYOND RSC files have kept theirs private. You might actually have to write your own, though searching the forums might give you some clues as to how to do it. The other thing to search the 'net for is a hex editor, which can give you better manipulation tools for whatever you're editing.

I'm not good enough to write my own program. Darn, I just wanted to change the colors a little bit! lol
Oh well, I guess I can just search for one on google. |
