I was thinking about sitting down and making a game but I don't have to much experience in programming. Im not sure how I should begin or even if I should begin. I have all these ideas and I don't feel right asking for help when I cant do anything myself. So does anyone have any suggestions on were I should begin?
First off: Write donw a list of your ideas, What you want to do, and what type of game and what you want in it,
Second:
Go learn some coding of the things you will need for that game,
Third:
Get some help with iconing if your no good,
After all.. You need icons for your game.

Fourth:
Start small,
Say you wanted to make a Amm Pokemon game or something,
Start with the login, Choosing atleast 3 types of pokemon just to start with since your a beginer (Easy and quick, you can add mor later)
Add in leveling and attacking,
And buildings and how to recover health,

Thats all,
Then upgrade with new information..

Thats how i started off...

Hey if you want I can help you out with the game. I'm not very good at coding our making icons but i can teach you the basics and you can learn off of that.

If you don't know much your not in a position to "teach" anyone anything.

So far the DM Guide is the only teacher you both can have that is free and won't make you code with other peoples bad habbits.

Well, in some ways you're right. But you can learn something from everyone. Now I'm not saying he'd get hired as a DM teacher but anyone who knows anything can teach that to others. So if he knows 1 good thing in coding then he's entitled to teaching that 1 thing to other people. Doesn't matter how much you know. It's just that you know it.

I think we should all start posting Hieads post when it comes to these posts..

I think that an hour or two with somebody who can answer the stupid questions that beginning programmers / BYOND users are bound to ask does wonders. I encourage you to contact me via email (piratehead@gmail.com) or instant messanger (my MSN and jabber are the same as my email) if you're open to a "live introduction" to BYOND game programming and development.

Cheers,
