I was wondering if it is possible to host BYOND games on a webserver? I mean one on a computer that has a seperate IP address from my own

If you need any more explanation please tell me, otherwise could you tell me how to get this to work?

Also, i'm not sure if this is the proper forum to place this in, but please don't yell at me or something for this, I am just trying to get some information.
No. Not to mention that "can I host on a webserver?" is the most retarded question a host could ever ask.

You could've stopped that post at 'No'. There is absolutely no reason to attack the person asking a simple question.

Server, yes. Web server, no.

Web servers generally won't let you run background processes (which is what you need to do to host a BYOND game from a server). If you can find a "shell server", it might let you. You need to be allowed (and able) to download one of the text-mode versions (usually the Linux one, but it depends on the server - if it's a BSD server you'll need to BSD version for example), install it, and run it in the background via the command line.

Finding a free host that does all these is very tricky; it's easier just to cough up the money for a paid shell server.

I only know of one host that actively encourages hosting BYOND games, and that's digitalBYOND. It's not free but it is cheap.

Thanks Crispy. I am new at hosting so I haven't a clue how to do a lot of this.

Thanks for clearing it up and helping me out.
