Gosh, every time i look at Tom's name i think of Tom and Jerry. Anyways, I wanted BYOND to be that way because I felt like we had more rights if we try to do that right now, the forum post will be blocked in a matter of seconds.

How about Tom you add to feature request some sort of up voting system so that you can sort out the most redundant request from the ones the community actually wants?

Yeah but the most popular ones show up at the top until added and the non popular ones get locked or deleted.

i have better idea. you have to pay $5 per feature request.
tom makes money, you guys get your feature requests ignored. in the end it works out for everybody |
That's just sad. If it's too much why doesn't he hire more developmental staff like the super oldies from 1999-2004? Trust worthy ones ofcourse.

I don't understand if you expect to make money you have to put the time in make things right. I understand that every single feature can't be added but c'mon some of the things people requested should've been added YEARS ago...

My final statement: BYOND has the potential to flourish financially. All you have to do is support the developers more.

The developers have everything they need. If an HTML5 client doesn't make BYOND flourish financially, nothing will.

I don't consider it pointless, as I like to get a sense of what the community wants. I do want people to understand that in a small operation like this, it is just unrealistic to expect us to cater to every feature request, especially those that can be accomplished better in other ways.
One problem with the "customer is always right" mantra is that the customer doesn't see the work that goes into the things they want. So maybe they make a big deal over something that they'll use a couple of times, and that something ends up taking us a week to work out. To give an example from BYOND, a few people were talking about how in-game payments would really help out make them & BYOND money. I admit, the idea made sense to me and we ended up taking quite a bit of time designing and integrating this. To this point, there has been exactly one in-game payment sale. Now maybe this will blowup and some point but it's more likely this was a dud and we (and the customer) were simply wrong.
So in the end it is about judgement calls, and yeah, ultimately it us up to Lummox JR & myself to make them.
