Well read the title if you want to know my problem, if you guys can, could you sort of give me some tips on how to make my icons look less sucky and plain and more detailed and cool looking. I would really like it if you guys could just give me some basic tips and tricks that you guys use or anyone would use to make icons look less like they should be on a GBA game and more advance looking and better. I know there are lots of styles and stuff, but I just want to know how to make it look not bad.
Give me some examples of your work.

How do I use all that, all of that is old really O_O
I don't think your art looks too GBA style, personal opinion I suppose though. But, what you can do, is start by looking at some art forums and study artists, read tutorials and guides on how to do certain things when applicable. Other than that, study some anatomy and 3/4ths perspective views and you'll definitely improve as desired.
Yeah, I don't think that looks like a GBA style either. Here is a website where you can look at a ton of GBA styles. http://www.spriters-resource.com/

What the problem in your work so far is not understand art principle and elements.
Violated GBA games.
your goal should be making art that look exactly like GBA games.

Why not Gameboy? Too many bits in that thar newfangled gameboy advance. I like doing 4-color art, and I've found that limiting yourself to 4 colors only really improves your ability to art.

lol the things people did with such limited colors still amazes me... i dont even think i'd be able to create an entire game with only 4colors
(That map/tileset is me, BTW. It's less than a week old.)

Wow, that looks great. :D Are you making a game with that, or is it just an example?
Clearly some people didn't read your lesson, Ter.
Could someone point me to the right direction of where to start?
Your pixel art looks more like Atari graphics, like ET the game. You get better with time and practice - also being honest with yourself helps too.
LOLOLOL THE ET The game, I'm dead. x.x no game is that bad... not even the rips or his...
Art wise I wouldn't consider his screenshot GBA standard. The ET game is what first came to mind.

I like how the evil trees have escaped their island and are spreading their evilness into the surrounding forest :)

Brilliant tile-set, by the way. I was never much of a gameboy fan, but I am old, and I really like well done limited color graphics.
looks like retro LTTP

Even worse. There's three layers of flimflam in that image.

It's TLoZ's map redone using ALttP's mapping style using Link's Awakening's perspective and color limitations, and my own tileset.
