Saving

I looked at the refference and guide, but I don't exactly KNOW how to create a succesful Save system. I want a basic system. One where you look up under the commands Tab, press Save and it saves all the variables and the x,y,z you were in.

Then when you re-log, I want a system that can Load your character. I don't want several slots or anythign like that. A Simple Save and Load. Can someone help me with this? Tell me where to start?

Where to start? Well, there's three I can think of:

1. The DM Guide, they have a chapter on savefiles (Ch. 12)
2. DM Reference, look up Read() and Write()
3. Forum search, enough said.

Like I said, "That stuff isn't working for me." But, I guess I will give it another try.
