png comments

How do you modify DMI images as PNGs and still keep the image comments so that icon_states are retained?

Use an image editor that supports PNG comments and leave them intact, of course.

I've tried gimp, photoshop and mspaint. Only MS paint leaves them, but MS paint doesn't do transparency.
