How to work player houses

Would i have to do save files for this. . . or . . .(brain = hurting)

I got passed using keys to get in but...how do i make it so players can just buy the house without GM help?

Edit:Partially resolved but if you have any suggestions... I'm sure it's better than what i've thought of.

This is something that is excellent to use map handling libraries for. There are multiple ones out there, so take your pick.
