But you can't stab the person in the back unless you're one tile behind them, facing them.

That one obviously depends on the implementation. With a conventional one, probably not, but other implementations of hitting people in games exist. At any case, this thread isn't mainly about stabbing as it is.

That is what the OP was looking for. 50 tiles EAST of a player facing west doesn't help in that regard.

I simply pointed out the correct way to prevent misleading, but incidentally the OP was actually looking for "How would I find out if a player is BEHIND a mob?", to quote the topic's title and his question, so typically you'd answer that question instead of another ("how do I program backstabbing someone?").
Lastly, obviously you can add a distance check to that if desired, that's beside the point. =P

You didn't mean that to post in reply to my post, right? Considering that you're pointing out essentially what I have to the others.

Yeah, I did. Sorry.

Of course, however, the OP asked a specific question (which was only in the title).

The OP wrote:
Title basically says it all

@Spunky_Girl: I wasn't scolding you for a mistake or anything, so you don't need to apologize, I just wondered why you replied to me with that.
