I was just wondering how exactly does it work? I have someone who bought me a server $13 a month. I saw the email saying it'd take 24-72 hours to make the server but after it's made then what? Would I have to download a program or something to actually use the shell? And will I receive info on it or something ?

Thanks Higoten!
Let me clear some stuff up here. After replying to initial server setup email, outlining the period it may take to setup the server, your server will definitely be created in that timeframe. The majority of the time it's done within a 30 - 4 hour period. The period is just a precaution incase something goes wrong in the process, thats all. As for using the system, the server has a readme file outlining what you need to do to get your game online, It's all very straight forward. Upload your files to the Filemanager, go back to the Dashboard, your game will appear, insert a port number if you want and select options such as invisible, normal etc then finally press the big ol green button to start the server. Apart from that I can't say too much else as it's just that easy. |
I did all that, server never showed. Supposedly from a support ticket when I hit start a pop up was to come up saying the server was starting, but never did. Not sure what's up with it
|
Should it take a support helper nearly 2 days to reply to my message? Cause I'm still waiting.
|
The game couldn't of mattered cause when the supporter did it it worked, but this doesn't matter anymore because I got onto him on taking 2 days to reply to my support ticket and he got mad and refunded my money and deleted my account.
|
Thats a wierd way of handling it ,thought the costumer is always right and the seller has to be ok with that even if his feelings are hurt and try to work with you on a better solution not just throw you away if its to much trouble to deal with. :O
|
That sounds less than ideal if not down right bad... two days isn't that bad of a wait time; but the cancelling stuff sounds shitty. Did he offer to terminate/refund or did he just do it and inform you about it after?
|
Nope he just went on and did it. I was waiting for about 2 days for a reply last I said was things like "I'll need the info again and I know you have a life I do too but this long of wait isn't that good since" and more. Next thing I know when I went to check for a reply my account was deleted and the money I payed for it was back into my paypal.

I was planning to use BP in the future- was this A.T.H.K or someone else? I'd like more information from an inside perspective + A.T.H.K's input if there is any.
|
I'm not sure if it were him or not cause on the BP website the supporters name was "Daniel Woods" I believe.
|
under a few minutes he was whining about the time it was taken.
In all honesty it works for the other 70+ users perfectly fine, I have limited 3G where I am so it's not easy to reply within a timely manner even to my standard, also remember as explained I live in Australia so our timezones are different, it's also the weekend.. You're account is still active so I'm not sure what's going on there. What do you really expect for a 8$ a month service? I get peanuts from each purchase and do this as mostly a hobby. You can throw my name around all you want I don't mind, at least get it right though it's Wood not Woods. In the end your game launched for me on four occasions and was on the hub, I wouldn't mind if you wanted to help debug the panel on your side so we could get the issue fixed, but that takes time obviously something you didn't have patience for. |
So you refunded that month's amount for the trouble? If so, that's pretty nice of you. +1
|
Gah my new phone didn't copy all my text :( apparently the forums don't like Chrome on Android my save button keeps disappearing..
A refund was given as requested after the client was frustrated and "mad". |
I don't see an issue with that.
The client raised multiple tickets over the course of his stay about the same issue and was frustrated about the time taken, even though I answered him in under a few minutes. sorry I have to do this in parts.. |
Ah, I might be using your service soon - this was the first negative thing I heard so I was curious.
|
Yeah it didn't work for me I've stated plenty times. All that about that weekend and etc but yet still saying you replied in a matter of minutes...no sir.
I wasn't just throwing your name around...you're clearly not reading at all. I was asked if it was ATHK or someone else I was communicating with. Since I didn't know your real name, I said Daniel Wood. I really couldn't care less how your last name is spelled especially since I was off one letter and clearly said "I believe" as in it could be that but I'm also not that sure. I had patience. It was just really funny you could explain a whole story of where you are and all that when the answer I really only wanted was my panel password since I was trying different browsers. A refund wasn't given upon request since I never requested one...lmao. Still claiming to have answered to within minutes but yet also saying you're in Australia with 3G and couldn't answer within a timely matter, different timezone, and it's the weekend. Get that straighten out |
Apart from what the name may imply, BYONDPanel.com is not actually affiliated with BYOND.com. BYONDPanel.com is operated by a member of the community, A.T.H.K and any questions about the service are best answered by him.
As he may not regularly check this forum, your best bet for reaching him may be by using BYONDPanel.com's Contact us forum or by sending him a pager message directly.
To answer your question, it is my understanding that after the 1 to 3 day waiting period, your account name and password will be established and you can use that to access an online control panel, which you can use to take the server online and offline, transfer files, and so on.
Good luck!
