I have decided to take the plunge yesterday and partake myself of a BYOND membership. I am someone with a negative amount of money right now, but I have decided that all of the time and effort I have spent on BYOND (see splattertag, ect.) deserved some type of recognition for Dan and Tom - I felt I should give something, since I am not currently providing good quality games, which would be the alternative. And yes, I took the money from my BYONDscape article shares - which means I have about a year and a half to finally write another article or two. Or finish DIRTjaw and release as a BYONDscape exclusive.
And because I should actually use this blog if I am paying for it (and if people -insist-, I can expand it to non-splattyprogramming topics if they'll actually read it then):
Otherwise, I have held the "History of Video and Computer Games and their Effects on Culture" report today I had mentioned before. It went well - somebody told me it was the most interesting report held yet (I had let him play River Raid on an Atari 2600 emulator via beamer as part of the presentation ;-) and another talked to me at the end of class in order to ask me to send her more information about interactive fiction (ie text adventures), because what I had said about them interested her.
I will write my assignment paper for that class on the Social and Cultural Effects of Interactive Fiction - I mean, I might as well continue the line of thought.
And speaking of which, I should work on actually making some more games instead of talking about them. But more about that... in the -next- post.
