Drawing Lines Between Tiles (More than 2)

I didn't think this was possible in BYOND, but I noticed this screenshot where apparently it was done with some kind of L4D Smoker-like undead creature's tongue.

Any idea how this was pulled off?

If it's anything like this one demo I saw, then it uses prerotated images, not dynamically created ones. Either way, the demo is here, and it was pretty cool, though I can't really see the practical use of something that pixelates so easily.

EDIT: Also, I believe Hobnob achieved the same effect using vectors in his vector demos, which are in the Dream Makers guild.
