Am I the only one who is angry at how everything that was once fun and goofy in the 80's is now serious and ridiculous?

http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/teenagemutantninjaturtles/ tmnt_medium.html
http://www.transformersmovie.com/

Both of these trailers make me so irate.
I concur.
I think the Transformers trailer is goofy, even though it attempts seriousness.

The TMNT trailer, on the hand, made me wet myself with joy.

Speaking of trailers, nothing out currently beats the Spiderman 3 trailer for sheer awesomeness.
"What's this?"
'New show called Neighbours'
"Neighbours eh? Pfft, I give it three weeks"

BACK IN THE 80s!

I don't expect many people outside of Australia to understand that one <.<
From what I've heard, TMNT is supposed to be closer to the original comics. The "cowabunga" stuff was considered disgusting.
Some TMNT history:

The TMNT most of us are familiar with is the Archie Comics TMNT... These comics are what the original animated series and most of the old games are based on...

However, TMNT goes back further than that, to much darker beginnings... Eastman and Laird's original version was much less cartoony, and a bit darker and more violent (I believe Leo even got to use his Katana on some non-robot foes!)

Of course, I am a child of the "cowabunga" Turtles, so even the true, grittier versions previous are somewhat foreign to me...

However, I love that trailer!

As for Transformers, I'm still holding out hope... That trailer doesn't show nearly enough to make a judgement, though it worryingly seems to be emphasizing the human side of the story, which is wrong...

An image of the live-action Optimus semi leaked out not too long ago, and I'm sad to report that they've taken some liberties with his look...

For one, he's not covered in the usual paint scheme... This truck was mostly black, and had some flames painted on the side... He's also a regular extended tractor, and not a flat-nose... The director is quoted as saying that they did this to give him some more bulk (they're going for 1-to-1 sizing between robot and alternate modes, which means none of the liberties that were taken with the cartoons... E.G. a Transformer that is the size of a semi will be much larger than a Transformer that is the size of a sports car)

There's still hope, though... Hopefully we'll see some more promising things in the near future (though with the release just under a year away, it might be a while)
That TMNT trailer rocked hard
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life completely spoiled the use of the word "irate" for me...
