I just want to know what's the best program to pixel and how to port the art made on it to BYOND icon format. Thank you.
For the program graphicsgale seems interesting, is it good? Does anyone use it for BYOND works? If so, how do you guys port your work on the program?

It's a matter of perspective completely. I use MS paint, and occasionally photoshop for certain things I can't do comfortably in paint, then write batch importers in DM to process my spritesheets.
|
What do you mean with "batch importers"? (I probably know what you mean with "batch" but I don't think I could do an importer without any help)
Are there any tutorials on how to do it? |
Not really, no.
It's just a trick I use to expedite the process of importing animations. I pack them into a sprite sheet, then break them up and insert them into animations based on their position in the sheet. I write the tools in DM because DM allows you to create and export DMI files from imported PNG files without having to write your own ztxt parser for the PNG format. |
Oh! I've found one tool that might do the same, but I'm not sure... Its name is IconImport, it was made by Falacy.
Does that tool do the same? |
I did like GraphicsGale, but PyxelEdit seems to have more features, though that may not be true because I haven't tested everything in both programs.
I would like more suggestions, thanks! |
The amount of features doesn't really matter, all you really need is a pencil tool and eraser. Layers are very nice to have, as well as selection tools. My personal favorite is Paint.NET. It has plenty of features, as well as tons of plugins on the forums. It is compatible with tablets too, which is very nice if you like to use them for blocking. Totally free, too.

pyxeledit is the best for me Same, I actually bought Pyxeledit because YutPut introduced it to the forums. It's a really great program, just takes a bit of getting used too. |
