Because I know the question you generally get is, "How 2 code?" or something similar to that, this might be a breath of fresh air.

I'm accustomed to more traditional languages; such as Java, C++, and Visual Basic (eww). But I actually began learning programming because of this site. Thanks for that, BYOND!

But, I was never actually very experienced with DM as a language. I actually own a copy of the Blue Book, which I realize is outdated now (and even when I bought it!), but I would honestly prefer not to read through the BYOND guide again.

How would others recommend learning some of the more moderate-level stuff? I've looked through some of the resources available, but unfortunately they aren't very organized.

I'm not sure of what my goals are at the moment, I'm just interested in learning more of the language. I feel like I have the basics down from my memory and a little bit of review. Actually, I've been thinking about making a traditional 2D fighter and I don't see why BYOND couldn't be a good platform for that, but I would like to learn more about the language before I even think about anything like that.

Any comments/opinions are appreciated, thanks guys!
Wow, you own a copy of the blue book?? old school!

For introduction to some moderate stuff I recommend checking out hub://deadron.stepbyond and the amazing articles at http://byond.com/members/DreamMakers if you haven't been there already.

Also, another good idea would be to set your goal on making a few small games, e.g. board games. Nothing like snakes and ladders to get the mind going! :p

p.s. unrelated but you should also check out python! (as in the programming language :p)
