I mean come on, if i was you think i would want to talk about it and i have lived in NC befor the bombing. And someone once asked me if we had a car there or a wagon?!?!? Its kinda stariotyping but everyone is gulty. Most countrys know NY thats why it was my Example.

there are movies that show realizm. they are called award winning movies and award winning TV shows.
and as a pervios post had said. it sould be Ok if the show is moral. that and parents should not shelter children. oh and as for demoralization and crime.. that is a side affect fo overpopulation more than movies and TV. if the populations were small enof to give everyone enof room to live as hunter/gatherer/farmer, there would be less crime becase there would be no need to commit crime. oh, and i dont do crack. i have never tried anything "synthetic" besides beer(and i gave that up). |

New York is very stereotyped. Many people think of it as extremely populated and full of crime. New York City, Buffalo, Albany, and Syracuse, Binghampton and a couple others are the only huge citys. Most of New York is underpopulated farmland. In the area where I currently live the house to the north of me is only about 50 feet away, but the one to the south of me is about half a mile away. I have to drive 12 miles into town just to get to a decent grocery store. My little town only has 2 stop signs and one stoplight (the stoplight is a blinking stoplight where the highway (I consider it a highway because it gets about 20 times more traffic than the mainstreet here, which that main street might get 50 cars down it on a extremely busy day)). The towns around this one are also small. The only "big" city inside of a half an hours drive only has about 50,000 people or so. New York is heavily stereotyped.
I am not complaining though, don't think that. I am just giving a bit of fyi. In fact, I sort of like the stereotype. When I go out of state, to Richmond, Virginia to visit my cousins for example, the usually "tough" people don't hastle me because I am from New York, lol. One more thing: I did grow up in Binghampton. I only moved into this tiny town I'm in now about 3 years ago, so I do know what it is like to be a city kid. Well, that is just my thoughts about that stereotype. [Edit] Also about that "Forum Room", I just thought that the forum gets a bit crowded, and I know it annoys me when I am browsing the forums and I see one thread that takes up the whole thing. I think it would be neat to have a "forum room" to have debates (my favourite), discussions, and whatnot. That way I could boot those who use the forums for excessive flaming, and other things that knowone likes in the forum. It would be a more civilized forum (I think that is sad that there are people who make the forum seem uncivilized). |

this is off subject but geez 50,000 people is considered a big town where i live(i live in the ozarks in missouri)our idea of a small town like the one i live in has about 500 people or so and the biggest town around just has around 2000

I live in the Ozarks as well, and I consider 50,000 pretty small. My town (Springfield) has about four times that, and I think of it as medium-sized.

Yeah, it's my ongoing project. When the BYOND (or DUNG!) community was much smaller I used to host it, but in those days everybody pretty much knew about it anyway. These days I'd be getting people coming in and asking me questions, and getting up their expectations, when it could still be years before the game is even ready for alpha.

So... just so I'm clear on your two salient points here:
1) Your life sucks. 2) You don't want to change. Stop and read those, side-by-side, a few times, and see if it stirs anything up in the ol' brain pan. Anyways, jobe, you ever stop and think that just because you run with a different herd it doesn't make you any less of a sheep? You're just a sheep of a different color, is all... a black sheep, so to speak. We're all conformists, we just conform to different ideals. I left behind college and a full-scholarship in order to fail to make a living writing bizarre poems and absurdist short stories. Do I imagine that makes me a "rebel?" No. It's actually pretty predictable. Face it: the road less taken was paved over years ago, and there isn't anything new under the sun. |

Yeah, and big. I have probably written something like 100,000 lines of code for it, though so many of them have been deleted and replaced the program really isn't that long. But the bigness alone does not account for the slowness. I have taken many breaks.

I tried to make a similar point to someone at school. He said he was a non-conformist by wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a fidora, and tan colored trench coat. I told him he was conforming to non-conformist ideals and his only response was "Nooo..." :p
Anyway, I don't think kids should be exposed to gore and violence until they're in their teens, there's nothing wrong with having an innocent childhood as long as you aren't completely shielded from reality. The people who may be negatively effected by violence, gore, etc. are the kids who don't have responsable parents to explain things to them. The kids who should be our biggest concern are the ones without at least semi-responsable parents. We can try to shove all responsability on parents (that's where it SHOULD lay) but that will only end up hurting kids who's parents aren't responsible. Many "artists" let themselves off the hook in this way. |

Otherwise, try my best to keep him/her/them away from it. negatively effected by violence, gore, etc. *begin affect/effect mocking* If it takes violence and gore to put a kid into effect, I'm very very worried! ;-) *end affect/effect mocking* are the kids who don't have responsable parents to explain things to them. Many "artists" let themselves off the hook in this way. A warning label book, which comprises a good portion of my website's random quotes, has this fake sticker (in regards to the "Parental Advisory - Coarse Language!" stickers permeating CD labels now), to be attached to every child at birth: "Parental Advisory: Until this human being becomes an adult, he or she is your responsibility. Pay attention to what he or she watches on television, listens to on the stereo, sees at the movie theatre, and reads. Don't expect the government or some cheesy warning sticker to do your parenting for you." |

And two, the fact that in society, people assume immediately that a cheerleader is female is almost depressing. No one wants cheerleaders, they want the laddar that you mentioned. They could care less what they are actually saying.
