I was thinking of making a DJing/scratching game but then I remembered reading something about BYOND only playing one sound at a time? Is this true, and if so, is there any way to get around it.

Hehe, it's rather limiting.

You can always use some browswer techniques to spiff it up.

What I intend to do is make it a multiplayer game. You will be given an underlay beat (the midi) then say 10 randomly selected wavs. THe beat will play for 1 minute, during which you can mix with your 10 midis, then the next person gets a go. At the end all the spectators get to vote the best DJ. I'll also have free mix mode (eg 1 player) and co-op scratching just for a bit of fun...

A great big copywrite on the title =) "Botman's Wicky Wicky Scratchathon 2k & One". As you can see, I was very bored at work today. ;)

If DM ever becomes more HTML and JavaScript friendly, my Sound Lib would be what you wanted. It will give you a play('file.type',1 for repeat 0 for no repeat, sound name) proc that would allow you to play any sound at any time. Also, a stopplay(sound name) verb that would allow you to cut sounds out.

Lets hope that Dantom kicks it into high gear, eh?

That would be good. Since I first made this topic Ive written a fairly simple program than randomly mixes sounds, but it just doest sound right with only two.

Yeah, I'm sick of them lazing around, making a better game creation system than any of us could and only releasing a new version every 2-10 days.

I didn't mean it in a mean way. :o)

I'm just anticipating a more browser-like text box.

Also, if they have one every 10 days or so...

Man, 10 days seems like forever...

I am blown away by how fast the updates come some times. At the moment they have slowed down a bit, most likely due to behind the scenes changes Dan and Tom are working on. Not too long ago, though, we saw three or four updates in the space of about a week.

Ten days? I say that's about as speedy as you'll see any software updated anywhere!

Not true!

The "Super-Duper Extra-Complexity Game-Making-System That No One Will Ever Understand" system releases a new version every four hundred seconds!

They're currently at version 167.912957352356858426028!

Oops, make that 167.912957352356858426029.
