I didn't say you were on drugs. I said drugs explains the recent increase in technology since the 1900's.

just making sure, I already bought a glove incase any others need smacking and my sword to be unsheathed and drove into their flesh causing blood, guts, intestines, bone, needful organs, ect. to fly out. But I don't think they'd like to get their carpet or tiles all bloodied, so I'll just do that outside. Moral of story: After saying I take drugs, seek cover or else all you will hear is Smack and Slice. I really do own a sword though, and have been practicing with it for halloween (may dress as Auron (FFX) or a ninja/samuria).

I wasn't going to say anything about this earlier, but since you're making such a big deal about it I will.

You take drugs.

Like it or not, you ingest volumes of psychoactive substances, most likely on a daily basis. No, you probably don't smoke crack. I'm willing to bet, however, that you drink coffee, soft drinks, or alcohol. You might even smoke.

And those are just drugs that you probably "abuse" (use for non-medical purposes). When was the last time you took a tylenol? Even turkey contains a substances that depresses the central nervous system.

You can't avoid drugs. They're everywhere. You've been told over and over again that "drugs are bad" and this has caused you to selectively define drugs as "things I don't take." This isn't just you... its virtually everyone.

Well, Im gonna sound like a complete idiot, but I already do, what kind of "drugs" are you talking about? Of course I take it on the highest level of offense if someone says "I take drugs" with the meaning of such things as weed or whatever its called nowadays.

I said it right here:
"I'm willing to bet, however, that you drink coffee, soft drinks, or alcohol. You might even smoke."
Those drugs are caffeine, caffeine, ethanol, and nicotine, respectively.

Of course I take it on the highest level of offense if someone says "I take drugs" with the meaning of such things as weed or whatever its called nowadays.

Why is that an "of course"? What is it about drugs that you find offensive? Why is marijuana inherently more offensive than, say, caffeine?

We should probably move this over to Babble if we continue.. I wasn't meaning to spark a long debate, though.

Yes, we should, but I dont think it will be long. I know what your talking about now, but It'd be very complicated to me to explain why I find it offensive. But I have a question, is caffiene harmful? Yes, to some it may sound like a idiot's question, but the way you put it makes it sound like that.

But I have a question, is caffiene harmful?

Like any drug, it can be. And the fact that its available everywhere makes it all the more so. Quite a few people have a physical dependence--an addiction--on it, just as one might have a physical dependence on heroin (but not marijuana, which is not physically addictive). Do you know anyone that *must* have their coffee in the morning? They're a drug addict, by definition.

But don't take my word for any of this, look at http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/caffeine/caffeine.shtml for all of the information on caffeine you've ever wanted (of special note is the Effects section).

Anyway, my point is not that caffeine is bad. Anyone of us can attest to the fact that caffeine is completely harmless in small amounts, and ingesting it, even regularly, in no way makes one a bad person. Abusing caffeine and over-doing it might do so, but it is entirely possible to use it without over-doing it. My point is that this is the case for all drugs.
