I want a spaceflight sim like StarFleet Battles - either in realtime, or turn based, or PBeM.

The general rule of thumb is that players don't know what they want but they'll know when they see it. So the best way to get a game people like is to make something you have fun playing and chances are someone shares your opinion.

First off what is PBeM?
Secondly what I would like to play is well:

A massive and fully interactive D&D based (3rd edition please)RPG. I think that it would be cool if it was built and tested by seven different individuals, not all of them need to know DM of course that could serve as Gods that can add to the on going story line and also keep the players in line. Non-animated icons so that it runs nicely, but the icons need to look nice. Also something that I haven't seen very much of here at BYOND I would like to see it be some what 3D like a building would have stairs and that would pop you up to the next z-level. It would need a vast story line complete a full history. I would like 6 beautiful 750x750x10 maps with hundreds of different tiles. Oh, and it obviously needs epic music, but don't let your shop music sound like a Frank Sinatra(sp?) song. I think it should have a name that starts with a large and easy to remember M.

But I can only dream....

Oh.

Don't forget the 500 dime starter fee plus 100 dimes a month after that.

Yeah, but we all know that will never happen.

Hey! I heard that!

Least not until byond supports a map larger than 500x500.

It can support 10000x10000 if you like, but I don't suppose your computer'll like it much.

DMP files are just textfiles, so all you need to do is expand the text file and the map expands with it.

(Only especially useful if you want to make a 10x10000 race track or something, since it takes forever to compile a 1000x1000 map anyway.)

Whoops, my bad. My comp cant handle anything much over 500x500, and it even struglles with 150x150.

It can support maps as large as you want. Just make your own map format or use the DMP format. Then dynamically load and destroy sections of the map when they become active/inactive. Doing this you can have as much map as want(provide it fits on your harddrive).

Usually the only limits you have are the ones you set yourself. You can usually just come up with some clever way to get around the "limits".

Yeah, but they're too hard. We'd rather have other people, like you, come up with ways to get around them for us. Then make libraries out of those ways and post them for us to use. Wouldn't that be nice? I know you want to...

Failing that, you could offer some practical suggestions on how to do it. It might even make a nice BYONDscape article or something.
