I've been stuck on this litterally for weeks. I can't think of a good way to do fighting on BYOND. I was thinking of switching to a battle screen, but that's very old, and gets annoying after so long. I thought about just going up to the person and attacking, but the person with the least lag would win. I can't really think of a good way. Anyone have any advice at all?

I have an idea, a fighting/dancing system. You don't hit the enemy, you dance. May the best dancer win.

Im stuck on thist problem, too! This Byond-Lag is pretty annoying and it stops every thought about RT-Fighting!
Move into the enemy - prob: Lag Click on an enemy to attack - prob: Lag even move near an enemy - prob: Lag Im thinking about the "click on enemy" option. I think its much more comfortable than to move by keyboard. But my game is set in a future theme, so I use mostly fireweapons and I think that frees me of some of the problems. For what are you designing a combatengine? For a fantasy setting? Melee combat? |

A fantasy rpg. I was thinking of temporarily moving the characters to a sort of game board depending on the area they're in, then having them move so many spaces to fight using different attacks from different distances. The main problem I see with that is it could take a lot more time than some people have.
