Changed a few things and now the grid seems to be drawn quicker! I think that the selection system is now suitable to be used in a game. More tests will tell the tale.
The RTS game that will be using this mouse selection system will not be based around huge armies. I decided that with intelligent AI huge numbers would create too much lag. Because of this, the game will probably be based on a small amount of units (not sure how many yet) and a greater number of more defensive type structures.
Any ideas, comments, or suggestions?

Erm, I'm not sure, but I think that you wanted to release the source, not a game. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Right in the fact that I'll most likely release the source for mouse selection code if anybody actually needs it. The reason I made it is for a game I am currently working on and it seems to work good enough to use. When I test with more then one client and a large amount of mobs(units in this case) with somewhat intelligent AI, it slows the game down a lot. That is why I posted for ideas on an RTS with small unit numbers. |
