Would a text based game be harder or easier to do? I'm talking about like if you were to make two versions of a game, one text and one graphic, which would be harder?

Well, technically. It would depend on what direction you want to go with the game. Like for the text game. It would be asier to make it RP Based than to have a small pixel movement map with black and white colors. And your just a dot. And for a graphical game. It would be the same way. So in a sense, its really up to you how "hard" your game will be to make.

Depends entirely on the game and on which areas of programming in DM your are more familiar with. Programming in text often requires much more use of lists and parsing text strings. If you're not familiar with lists and you don't know anything about parsing text strings, you'd probably want to stick with graphical.

The text version is easier, only because you don't have to design graphics. If it's the same game with a different display, the core system will be identical.

I think he is talking about games that use text characters to represent things onscreen, like Rogue, ADOM, Kroz, ZZT, and a myriad other games.

OoOo I remember those games! When the internet was just a little baby. The more advanced games were made of text characters. Like pac-man! Hehe. I remember when my little "@" character would go in and out inbetween all of the []'S
