Now there's something that has never been done, I don't think. An online fishing game for Byond. Came across my mind when I was in a raw test game and my character was underwater with all these fish around.
And hey...this would be really cool, I think.
A player can choose to be a fisherman OR the fish! If they're the fish, they could try to survive and grow bigger by eating bugs in the water and stuff, but they can't tell which is a real bug and which is a lure.
Does this sound like a stupid idea or worth looking into?

Not trying to rant. Just asking what people would think of the idea. So far nothing...

Go for it - certainly would be a change!

Interesting idea... :-)
Maybe if you make it, people will have opinions about it! =P |

Yea, it would be better to make it and ask people if they like it instead of asking people if they think they might like it.

for possibly nothing. I just wanted to know what people thought of the idea, whether or not it interested them.

Almost any idea can end up making a good game. The amount of effort you put into making the game matters more than how good the idea sounds.

Sounds good to me! You could also have MANTRA ranking OR an internal scoreboard to tell which is the best fsherman/fish.

How would you tell who the best fish would be? The one who doesn't get caught and has eaten the most? Best fisherman would be easy, one who caught the most fish. On a side note, you could have varying degrees of fishing rods, which would be stronger and have a higher chance of catching a fish. A larger fish would have a higher chance of breaking your rod. Check the fish's size/weight against the rod's strength to see if it breaks when you reel it in.

If all fish started out the same, I'd say the best would be the biggest. Every fisherman wants to catch the biggest fish, so the biggest fish would be the best. To be the biggest fish you'd have to eat a lot and survive.

Gah! What is it with you people and stealing my ideas? lol, j/k, but I did make a fishing game called Fish-O-Rama. Very... bad... fishing game, but hey, I was starting BYOND. As for the idea of being a fish: O_O I didn't think of that one. My game, Fish-O-Rama, will probably never be published... so, a very interesting idea, if you like it, I say do it!
Fish-O-Rama had it where you could buy a boat to go on water... and there were tidal waves that'd kill you... lol. -Nova PS: I'm gonna have to play this fishing game of yours when it comes out... |
Sounds like an RPG style kinda. Were the food is the exp that you have to eat to get bigger or get a new level. And the fishys have diffrent races of fish like blue gills and bass. While the fishermen could gain more Chance% or exp/knowledge on were to get more fishys. Maybe even updates on poles the more smally fisheys you catch.
LOL I can see a Fighting style game too where the fisher men have Bamboo fishing poles used to beat the fish and throwing Worm stars. Were the fishys have super sharp fins that can cut the fisherman into pieces. Dont forget the Jaws he can be the biggest :) |
Hmm sound's like serch for eden to me a game for SNES we your a fish at the begining and get beger

Fishermen could choose their stats and maybe grow a little stronger each time they catch a fish or something like that. Fish grow as they eat and players playing them have statistics relating to what largest size they became and how much trouble they caused certain fishermen and stuff...

Anyone actually interested in having a go with it? Because our crew is still working on another game.
