I am currently in the design phase of a project that I am working on with a few others. Our plan is to make a game, similar to capture the flag, that would a require a fairly large number of players. The team objectives would be something like the following: Each team starts with information such nuclear key codes needed by another team to launch a weapon that would end the match, destroying everything. Once they obtain these key codes from an enemy command facility, they'll also need to capture one of 2-3 possible facilities in which this weapon is launched. The facility will take so much time to capture using hackers or a special unit, and will need to be powered throughout the whole launch countdown. If an enemy team either captures the building or cuts off its power supply, then the launch is aborted and the key codes(on a card or something) will be returned to the enemy.
We have an excellent server lined up, although we are not sure yet how many players we can support. The more players we can support, the larger the map will become. All logon processes and non-combat related setups may be hosted on a separate server, but that is uncertain. The main problem is that if we can get a good number of people playing, then we'll end up charging a small sum of money in order to play so we can pay for the servers. I'm curious about how many people would be willing to pay to play and if so, how much? Nothing is for certain yet, if we get this going and don't gain enough interest, we will most likely release a smaller scale of the same game, and let people host it on their own. We plan on implementing vehicles and other weapons to make it even more interesting. There will also be other facilities to capture that may provide a tactical advantage or rare weapon/resource. We are very open-minded right now.

Please reply with any comments/suggestions.
