In my current project im planning on having many different enemies. Although I have been planning to make up all of the enemies myself I find myself running out of ideas and finding inspiration can be time consuming. This is where you come in, if you want to of course. I need original creatures to fill my "world" in the making. So if you find yourself willing and imaginative at the moment take some time to imagine a creature. Anything from the smallest weakest insect to the most ferociuos of beasts.
Heres an example of what I would like:
Name: Description
The description may be short or as long as you feel like making it. But please include the places it likes to be/lives, what it eats, and the name for more than one (plural form).
Galistyr: A small rabbit-like animal that has 4 wings and are white or grey. Galistie are usually found near vegetation in wooded or overgrown areas. If threatened they will fly away avoiding larger animals as much as possible.
You may use animals for examples as in the above "rabbit-like".

Thank you for your 4 creatures
The only reward I can give you is credit as the 4 creatures's "Discoverer". (even though they seem very similar to enemies you fight on Metroid Prime) ~Vermolius~ |
I only have one good monster at the moment...
Midnight Creature: They generally live in deep dark caves and are pretty darn rare. They average about 10 feet tall and have skin that doesn't reflect light, so you can't see their features aside from their outline. But they do have large, batlike wings (although they don't fly), horns, large sharp claws, and glowing red eyes. Midnight Creatures are generally pretty lethal to humans, and don't like to be disturbed. They sometimes come up out of their cave dwellings and harass villages (usually at the whim of an evil administrator), but that's pretty rare. (And they have absolutely nothing to do with demons.) |

Thank you for your "Midnight Creature" Foomer
You are its "Discoverer" as your reward. Not to mention your great description! ~Vermolius~ |

The original description was better, but my cable went out right before I was going to post it. :o(
Midnight Creatures are great, they were the bane of The Experimentor, my first BYOND experiment. Its was tons of fun to warp them into the village and watch them slaughter the guards, or any other innocent players who happened to wander too close. Ah, those were the days. They're totally invented by me, too. No Metroid rips. :P Although they do vaguely resemble an image I got in my mind of a creature in a poem or a story that got its "tailypoo" cut off, if anyone happens to know what that was... |

Yep
Very similar. But it's a good concept! |

Yep. Except for the Blizzer. You got a problem with that? Except that it says original in the title...
But whatever! But now that you mention it, the Blizzer sounds like a shriekbat. Except I don't mean it to suicide, poor thing! Okay then, here's some new ones that I'm pretty sure isn't based on anything except my imagination, and possibly real creatures... Attakhan - A humanoid creature somewhat like a mantis, but human sized. Scythes protude from it's body at several places, which it uses skillfully to defeat it's prey. It tends to prey on Hortrins, but a human warrior that irritates it will do just fine. Hortrin - Somewhat similar to a rhinocerous, with skin so thick it is practically plate armour. They have bony protusions from most joints. They are very slow and lumbering, but when they hit, they hit like a... very large, angry thing. Their natural enemy is the Attakhan, and are normally quite peaceful towards humans. Some knights hunt them for their skins. Dark Cloud - A evil that coalesces into a cloud of pure darkness. Very rare, but very dangerous. Not only do they have a suffocating, strangling attack, but can use some types of dark magic. They actively seek to destroy humans, particulary magic users, and particularly followers of the light. Will attack other animals if humans are not present, and a lot of dead creatures may warn of their presence. Difficult to kill with weapons of mere steel. Sarglk - Named by goblins, hence the unpronouncable name. A giant, venemous worm that lives in caves deep underground. They normally eat whatever wildlife they run across, but have been known to attack humans. Not much else is known about these poisonous worms, but it is rumoured that they are immune to various types of magic. |

Here is a complete list of all the monsters that Have been come up with:
Attakhan - A humanoid creature somewhat like a mantis, but human sized. Scythes protude from it's body at several places, which it uses skillfully to defeat it's prey. It tends to prey on Hortrins, but a human warrior that irritates it will do just fine. ~Jp~ Ballavrak >Ba-la-v-rack< (Singluar and Plural) - Ballavrak are a rarish bi-pedal race, bearing likeness to the reptillian family. Their natural protection comes in the form of scales, coloured in an Ochre Brown, covering the whole body. Their arms are fairly long, and their hands bear 3 splayed fingers, each armed with a sharp 'talon' like claw. It is Ballavrak tradition to fight hand-to-hand, weaponry is thought dishonourable to their natural abilities. Ballavrak are arrogant and fearsome, and are a necessary threat. They fear no-one as their communal nature is that they are the superior species, bar none. Ballavrak are also fairly intelligent, they most likely are just under terms with Humans. They live in small-ish colonies, and are very territorial; Attacks on passing Humans are common, and the death of the Human is almost definate. ~Fliint~ Barshnel: A green, brown, or yellow insect with 7 legs, 3 on each side, and one in the rear. Barshnel live in rotten trees or in abandoned burrows. ~Vermolius~ Blizzer - Small bat like creature with a sharp beak. When it spots a creature it dive bombs it repeatedly, sticking it with its beak. They are highly fragile, but tend to live in swarms in caves. ~Jp~ Dark Cloud - A evil that coalesces into a cloud of pure darkness. ~Jp~ Flame beast - A serpentine creature that lives in lava. It raises iself out of it's pool and breathes fire when it detects a nearby creature. Highly aggresive, even to members of it's own species. ~Jp~ Galistyr: A small rabbit-like animal that has 4 wings and are white or grey. Galistie are usually found near vegetation in wooded or overgrown areas. If threatened they will fly away avoiding larger animals as much as possible. ~Vermolius~ Gurf: A very small, brown or grey furred rodent with a short tail. Gurf are oftentimes found in forests with Hemaina(a green plant with G shaped leaves that sprouts yellow flowers) plants in them. ~Vermolius~ Hortrin - Somewhat similar to a rhinocerous, with skin so thick it is practically plate armour. They have bony protusions from most joints. They are very slow and umbering, but when they hit, they hit like a... very large, angry thing. Their natural enemy is the Attakhan, and are normally quite peaceful towards humans. Some knights hunt them for their skins. ~Jp~ Koron - Koron are large ogre-like creatures. They like to feed on smaller animals but will kill larger things. Koron like to live in caves close to the sea, for the humidity. They are able to swim but perfer not to. They also have gills. Galistyr is its favorite food. ~Neopo~ Midnight Creature: They generally live in deep dark caves and are pretty darn rare. (And they have absolutely nothing to do with demons.) ~Foomer~ Puffer - A flying puffball, filled with poisonous gas. When killed this gas is released, and may kill nearby creatures. ~Jp~ Sarglk - Named by goblins, hence the unpronouncable name. A giant, venemous worm that lives in caves deep underground. They normally eat whatever wildlife they run across, but have been known to attack humans. Not much else is known about these poisonous worms, but it is rumoured that they are immune to various types of magic. ~Jp~ Serpent vine - A vine that lives in small holes in the wall. When it detects a nearby creature, it shoots out and waits. When the creature comes within 5 metres of it, it lashes out and wraps around it and kills it by suffocating and crushing. It then rips small pieces of meat off and eats them. Quite difficult to kill, but easy to stun. ~Jp~ Torachi >Toh-rah-chi< (Singular and Plural...again) Torachi are a relative of the feline blood-line, and come with speculation that they evolved from the Cheetah, the only difference being a lack of spots, and this time with retractable claws. They are a slight bit slower than the Cheetah, and extremely predatorial. They live in packs, and roam plains for their prey. They have hierarchy similar to lions and the other relatives..I.E 'Pride' like organisations. They generally roam alone, and sleep in small dug-out burrows. The only real time Zourin are seen together is during the mating season (Once every 3 quarters of a year). ~Fliint~ Vemlet: Vemlets are devious little carnivorous creatures that use vast numbers to their advantage. Vemlets prefer forest areas that are abundant with trees (for reason explained below). They are small 4 foot creatures covered in a set of undeveloped forest-green scales. Their body is pudgy - almost ball-like - with a set of very short legs that makes the vemlet wobble from side to side when it walks. However, each vemlet owns a set of 4 long, skeletal arms. They have a mouth full of 53 moderately sharp (slightly sharper than human teeth) small teeth that let them gnaw away at their prey. One vemlet by itself is very cowardly and will most likely flee at the sight of any danger. This changes significantly when they are in numbers. Due to the unstoppable sex drive of the vemlet, their tribes increase in numbers with ease, making it very difficult to rid an entire region of them. As stated above, these cowardly fiends always attack in numbers. The typical tactic of a vemlet tribe is to use a single vemlet - the smaller, the better - to act as a decoy and lure a hapless victim(s) into a spot where there are plenty of trees, where the rest of the tribe hides above. When the time to strike is right, the horde of vemlets will leap from the trees and begin beating the victims into unconsciousness with sticks and other bludgeons wielded in each of their 4 arms. ~Malver~ Zourin >Zoo-Rin< (Plural and Singular) Zourin are fairly broad, and bears skin similar to a Rhino (A distant cousin).. It's body length can reach to 1m, while it's height from the ground is at most 70cm. Zourin bear no horns like it's cousin, however it has the charging and bashing ability which can render attackers with broken bones if so inclined. Zourin are herbivore however, and so pose no threat to Humans since they are not aggressive and hardly territorial. They are rarely hunted, as their skin is incredibly tough and the resulting meal is very unsatisfactory, especially if a jaw is broken in the attempt. ~Fliint~ Here is the list without descriptions: Attakhan, Ballavrak, Barshnel, Blizzer, Dark Cloud, Flame Beast, Galistyr, Gurf, Hortrin, Koron, Midnight Creature, Puffer, Sarglk, Serpent Vine, Torachi, Vemlet, and Zourin We are up to 17, but thats not nearly enough to populate a whole world. I thank those who have taken their time to help me. But I thought the byond community would be more helpful than this. Feel free to post as many monsters as you like, I would like around 100 to start my project. I will edit this post everytime someone comes up with a monster/monsters. If you read the descriptions and see any grammar or spelling errors please point them out. I'll be typing up some more of the monsters/animals i've come up with sometime... ~Vermolus~ |
koron
large oger-like creature. likes to feed of smaller animals but will kill larger things. if you get near 1 don't. likes to live in caves close to the sea, for the humidity. is able to swim but perfers not to. it also has gills. galister is its fav food not as dumb as you think thay are exteramly clever thay wont attack you if you have galister meat some will even work for it. |
Ballavrak >Ba-la-v-rack< (Singluar and Plural)

They live in small-ish colonies, and are very territorial; Attacks on passing Humans are common, and the death of the Human is almost definate. (This is just an idea, if your game will include intelligent 'rival' species in forms of colonies, else ignore this Species as singular, roaming Ballavrak wouldn't really suit...though, it's down to you.) ___________________________________________________________ Zourin >Zoo-Rin< (Plural and Singular) Zourin are fairly broad, and bears skin similar to a Rhino (A distant cousin).. Is that enough? I could go into their tribe hierachy as well. Or the vemlet mating habits. ;) |
