This one's a whopper. "Basics" implies that it's widespread, and therefore NOT original. If you want to have original ideas, don't ask on a public forum about it, because if you actually do get a decent idea, you can kiss any originality it had goodbye.

Yeah, like there have been no games where you can cook. Ever. Ultima Online had that feature, and UO is fairly old now, probably around 5 years or more. In fact, there are a ton of MUDs that allow for cooking, and some of them get rather involved with it. If anything, "cooking with food" is hardly original.

5 years? Try more like 9 or 10. UO has been around since Windows95 was almost new.
I really want to do a proper RPG, where you have to follow a line of quests, (or take a route of quests, so it's not always the same i.e. If you take one instead of another you get a completely new option of quests, or whatever) but if you do that it becomes very hard to make it multiplayer and allow them to interact with each other, unless it is a team game, and that means that they all have to want to be with each other and make the same decisions!

Not entirely, just because a game has a straight quest path doesn't mean you can't make it multiplayer, that's why MMORPG's exist. FF11 is an example of doing this, adding teamwork through thousands and thousands of players over the span of the entire world. You can always incorporate straight quests into a multiplayer type world.
