Alright...here's the deal. I'm in a major stump right now. I can't think of any games to make or the ones I do think of, I am incapable of doing myself.
So...here's the deal. I want you to help me program a game by giving me tasks to do in hte game. Like lists, pathfinding, whatever.
Just tell me what features to add, and what method to use. I'll then post my work on here and see if its up to snuff, k?

So...what should I do to start the game off? What type of game should it be? Era? Style? Whatever you feel like.

It's on a planet called "Uberdog", where Cats catch Mice for no reason and then they die.
Which is why it's called Uberdog. The stat in which Cats attack Mice is "oomblemonk" and it's ALWAYS set to 23134234324234323333333. |
I would like to help you with this if you're still interested. I really like the idea of a sort of programming game, and I can give you all sorts of tasks, and help you debug things when you get errors. Contact me if you're still interested. I don't check these forums very often, but I check my game's forum daily : http://games.byond.com/forums/IainPeregrine/PeregrineCity

Basically your looking for some one to tell you what to do? #1. protect me at all cost with your own life. ;) #2. Give me lots of money. ;) #3. Get in a fight with a kid bigger than you for my entertainment. ;) #4. *Most Important* Bring me beer. ;) ... on too the game. It's called Castle of Clues. It takes place in a castle *Duh*. I haven't worked out all the details on how the gameplay works. But if the idea intrest you I could think up the details. Basic setting is that the prince of the king has been murdered. And you have to find out who the killer is by certain clues that are left about the castle. Be alert that the king is very upset and has dispatched some soldiers too kill every one in the castle. I was thinking along the lines of a board/turn based system. With a menu system for actions. Dice would be rolled to see how many movements you could do and stuff like that. But Im not too sure the board/turn based system would be the way to go. |

Now, here's what I would assume a serious suggestion for you Tiko.
It all depends on what type of game you want to make. If you want to learn how to program, I'd assume you'd go for something who's ideas you can develop on. This can be either a High Tech RPG thing, or even a High Tech TPS (Third Person Shooter). You don't even have to go High Tech either. For a game, you have to set out some guidelines before you can set anything out. Theme - What will be the theme? This could be anything from the era it takes place in to revolving around a specific character class. (Hell, you could make a game about Communist uprisings.) Player Base - What kind of players do you want to attract? Roleplayers, powerplayers, casual gamers, hardcore gamers, it's all in how you design your game! Player Goals - What will the goals for a player be? After a while a game might get boring if the goal nearly unobtainable or easily achievable. Make the game and purposes fun and enjoyable for the player. Entertainment - You have to make sure the player is always happy (or sometimes, you can make them angry. ;)). Make sure to plan future advancements for the game that will make it even more fun than it is now, and if it doesn't work right, change it so it does! Graphics - Graphics are not as important as gameplay, in all it's glory. When you reach a point that the gameplay is great, then that's the time you should spruce up in the graphical area. Graphics help, especially if they don't hurt your eyes every time you look at them. But don't make that an excuse to not make a good game! For now I'm sure all of these guidelines should help you on the way to the game. Just fill in the blanks! Also, remember to make design documents, as sometimes the first idea you have might be better than the one you just came up with on the fly. (And they make great idea sparkers, too!) |
