Hi ive gotten pretty good at codeing and now i want to make a small game. My question is where to start when you code. Should i start off with the main system like if i was codeing a combat game start off with the attk system right?
I always start with all the turfs. Then I build a simple map with them. Then I start testing other features on the little map that I made.

But then, I never finish anything.

As for the rest, it kind of depends a lot on what kind of game you're making! Not everyone is making an RPG.

Making a game is like making a 10,000 piece puzzle. You put together small pictures and fix those to make a big one. Get it.

That's why you can have so many coders working on one game.

Well, generally it's a personal decision. You might decide to get all the non-game specific stuff out of the way at the beginning. (Chats, Staff Powers, Saving maybe) Making a map isn't a bad place to start either, but it depends on the game. (If it's gonna be an extensive RPG with huge environments, you might want to hold off on the major mapping)
