I never said I would spam them, Ive already decided on a limit of four randomly placed files. I was just saying I could do it, not that I do do it.

Because if it came down to that BYOND itself would be legally obligated to release that information. And how will BYOND release this information if the person hasn't released that information themselves? Mind you, you aren't forced to give up your real name or any of your other information. A properly stealthed key would use a proxy to connect and supply no information of their own except for one of those 10minutemail accounts. How would you be able to sue someone then? Or even be able to use Mr. Generic BYONDer who isn't a BYOND Member or only has gift memberships (no information about how they paid for it) and is relatively unknown on the internet? -- Data |

Ultimately, if they wanted to, you can always be traced. There is no such thing as complete anonymity on the internet. The closest you can do is provide nothing but false info and use a service like Tor, but if someone has the correct resources, you can still be found out.

Virus programmers are harder to track down -- like random pickpockets -- because they want to remain anonymous like the cowards they are. BYOND developers don't want to remain anonymous: they want people to play their games! If a BYOND developer makes his game damage someone's computer, that BYOND developer would have a tough time hiding from that. =P Aside from all that, there's always the magic of the subpoena. |
