Several months after losing all of my EtW data, I've decided to rebuild Enter the Wastes.

I come back, however, with a question.

In a post-apocalyptic world, beset by radiation, mutating zombies, raiders, and a large helping of survival...

What would you carry with you? This includes weapons, food/water, tools, etc.

Personally, I'd take the following:

+Some type of dried/canned food
+Bottle/Canteen of water
+A light hunting rifle with a large magazine, with a common ammunition type (easier to find ammo, although conservation comes first). No more than perhaps 50 rounds total, ammo gets heavy, afterall.
+Crowbar for moving debris and doubling as a improvised weapon
+Backpack with a waist strap for storage
+A box/case with band-aids, splint, disinfectant, bandages, stitches (well, the stuff they use), and tweezers (the kind for removing things, that is).
+A book (boredom can be as harmful as anything) - Optional
+A jacket
+If at ALL possible, stolen Adderall for energy and awareness

What about you?
- Lighter/Matches... Always a lighter or matches.
- Long bladed knife and whetstone. Remember: blades don't need to be reloaded.
- Topographical maps of the region your in
- Compass
- Flares

(This is of course weight permitting, slow meat is dead meat)

As a secondary and most likley useless addition, some type of radio. You never know when or where survivors may band together.

- GunRunner
I'd bring my copy of John Wiseman's S.A.S. Survival Guide. =)
I want a Kalashnikov. Preferably something of the 7.62mm Russian caliber, like the AK103 or AK47. Definitely several hundred rounds of ammunition along with at least a half of a dozen curved "banana" magazines. Maybe a drum magazine or two.

- Canned Food, definitely, along with a can opener.
- Bottled water, and a lot of it.
- Machete.
- A camping/hiking backpack to store everything I need.
- Waist packs.
- First Aid kit
- Radio and rechargable batteries.
- One of These.
- Flashlight.
- A fishing or hunting vest or just any vest with lots of pouches.
- Maps of the area.
- Lockpicks, if available.
- Flares, if available.

Why not just bring a strong pocket knife instead of a can opener? It can still open the can. You can do a lot more things with it, such as using it as a weapon, using it as other various tools (ex: lock picking), and it is easier to carry, and is also lighter.
