So, mostly anyone who has played Playstation and has played any of the Final Fanstasy games, knows of Tactics and maybe even Tactics Advance.

So I was considering yesterday rather or not I should waste a month or two coming up with a game like it.

(Because we all know the game pwn!)

Or not even worry about it. I've seen many types of games with a simple job system, but I still haven't seen anyone pop with the idea of this. I know FFT(Final Fanstasy Tactics) was not the first FF(Final Fanstasy) game to have the job system and it sure won't be the last.

But just want to hear what you guys have to say about it. SO FEED ME UR MINDS!!
I've played a Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA. using visualboy advance which let me play it on my desktop. It was most definatly the best FF game with a job system, each Race has their own jobs and as your experience with that job grows, you can Go to the next level with your job.

Eg:
Male, Soldier, Level 21

After Mastering Soldier:

Male, Assassin, Level 46

The problem with copying a game like that, is that you have to create the variety of jobs and growth. If not, it will be a pale comparison. It's a tough act to follow...

I'd be hard to make, it's turnbased, as in you select a unit on the field, squares show up and you choose a desired one, and it moves there. For the record the races are;

- Human
- Bangaa (Lizard)
- Moogle
- Monsters
- Viera
- Nu Mou

There is also a Law system, each day has a new, (eg. today you may not use fire magic). However there are "Law Banishing cards" that Nu Mou races can make. It's really alot to make. Most of it's made of mission you get at the Bar.

FFT was great, Tactics Advance was a horrible joke of a follow-up to the original.

If you can, go for it. I know JackGuy was working on an FFT clone as well, but I'm not sure how far along that is or if it's even still in progress.

I disagree.

While it is definitely a significant project, it need not emulate the FFT games. A turn based party strategic combat game can be great fun without all the FF trappings. See Champions of Vargacet. Hell, four classes plus a handful of eq and random terrain would still leave a ton of strategic options for gameplay.

The biggest issue is play balance. It is tough to make jobs/species/gear etc. equally viable. The more options, the more chance something broken will pop up. I think a zero sum balance approach really helps here (IE a sword may be +5 damage but -5 accuracy or something).
