I heard the reason for snake being on SSBB is because MGS was orignally on the nintendo console...obviously more info etc.

And he did not beg to have the character in the game, though it isn't surprising that someone like IGN would report that. He did, however, ask them for it.

IGN was just the first place I found with the quote. I've been reading that all over the place. Where did you read that it wasn't the case?

EGM, IIRC, although I could be wrong, may have been gamespot. One of the places had an interview with him in which he stated he wanted to have a character in SSBB and asked them for it.
