You should see some of my PHP code. That is what many other programmers consider to be horrid.

When it comes to languages that it's customary to use brackets for code blocks. Most people argue over whether it's better to be Tomist or Danist. For example, Nadrew is Danist and Mobius is Tomist.

Two examples are like this:
Tomist:
if(condition)
{
//Some code here.
}
else
{
//Some code here.
}

Danist:
if(condition) {
//some code here.
}
else {
//some code here.
}

I'm some kind of evil monster when it comes down to it, because I do this:
if(condition) {
//some code here.
} else {
//some code here.
}

And I have been drilled about it before. But to be honest, I find my method to be the best for me to read. The only other programmer who has gone over my PHP in attempt to update it was Audeuro. And he didn't complain.

I come from the Danist school myself when it comes to braces. I think Tom actually doesn't much use the format you pointed out though.

The last style would likely be either Mikeist or Ronist, based on what I've seen in the code for our website.

You may have a complaint by association, as I think I looked over Audeuro's PHP code before for some reason, and was appalled by that format, though I could be thinking of an extension for the wiki.

Personally, I'm a Tomist. I find the Danist way as a bit ugly, but the monster method horrifies me.

I honestly like the "monster method" just for the else statement. It allows me to see exactly what if statement it belongs to. I have never been chastised for it before either.
