Im starting a game for a project im working on outside of byond. Its gonna be an online 3d game that hopefully will get picked up by a small game company (my friend works for one).

I have a general idea for the game but decided to run it by the community to see if you think it would be worth working on.

Game Idea:(its real basic right now trying to come up with specifics now)
Its a world with different assassin organizations. But these organizations are at war with each other. You will start off and choose your organization, each organization will specialize in a type of killing, like swords/daggers, poisons/explosives, guns (if I decide to have guns but thinking to keep it less modern). Then you will kill marks that the org leader (an NPC) gives you or you can increase your reputation by killing rival assassins.

I like the basic idea but right now im afraid I wont be able to make enough different content to make it a long lasting game. Also I was thinking of having 4 different orgs but cant think of different weapons so I might do something with techniques also.

Ideas, inputs, thoughts would be appreciated

I don't know, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, why are different guilds of assassins at war? I like the idea of playing an assassin, but the concept you are using, just doesn't work for me.

Instead of that, why not make it sort of like a assassination simulator? The game could have light rpg elements, mixed with a touch of action. The players could decide on what kind of specialization the assassin works with depending on the way they build their character. Perhaps they work well with sniper rifles, or maybe they are experts in poison? Each mission the player is given, could be finished in multiple ways, perhaps even, one way for each kind of specialization the assassin works in.

You could go the classic, old school route and have the games time settings in a knights and kings setting, or you could go with a more modern day setting, where more technology is available to the player, thus giving more game play elements.

If you want to add in a plot twist, the player could complete several mission, but later on, perhaps the people you work for, will later on betray the player, giving them the only option to fight back against their employer and having to fight with newer, hired assassins.

well the main reason why they are at war is because i want to make it an online multiplayer and in order for those to be successful you need player interaction with each other and the easiest way to do that is have them either work with each other or against each other.

Just because you want online player interaction doesn't mean that the assassin's guilds have to be at war. Look at Doom, when it first had multi-player death matches. The game had a story line, and then if players wanted, they could go head to head beating each other to death.
