ABC...or, more specifically, Mike Shaw, who has some amazing things to say about forcing us to watch commercials.

The money quote:

"I'm not so sure that the whole issue really is one of commercial avoidance. It really is a matter of convenience--so you don't miss your favorite show...People can understand in order to have convenience and on-demand (options), that you can't skip commercials."

Get thee back, devil!
As an owner of a Tivo box myself, I know personally I bought it so that I could pause it and come back later and fast forward, I hope this mans dream doesn't come to fruition.
Sure they can go right ahead and do it and loose millions of customers with DVRs.
Wow, how stupid can you get? Actually on DVR you can not go past Live TV, or thats what I own at least.
Wasn't one of the big things about cable when it first came out that it did not have any commercials?

I don't understand how you can have a business that charges almost everyone in the nation somewhere from $40 to $110 every month and yet needs advertisement-income on top of that.

I thought commercials paid to the channel airing them? Although, I suppose the Cable company probably pays the channels as well. Perhaps the large increase in channels overwieghs the changes in price, making there be less money to go around for the channels?
DVR is "Digital Video Recorder", and can record any television, network or cable. The idea here is to force you to watch the commercials on network television.

Even if, say, it's the fifth damn time you are watching it...

I am categorically against anything that forces me to sit through content in any manner that I don't opt-in for.

It's my life they are bleeding away.
Looks like it is time to go back to VHS.
