That's right. It's been a year and I have finally decided to work on this game again, or code anything on BYOND for that matter (I've been gone nearly a year).
Anyhow, this game will, I hope, be bigger, badder ("and uncut" :-p) mode wise, which is what the game was lacking. Though I'm not yet sure what I can add to for the mode, please post suggestions if anyone has any. Though the extra modes won't all come at once. No, instead this version will start with only one mode...."Why," you may ask yourself? Well, for the simple fact that I am not using the already programmed game.
I plan on recoding 95% of the game. The reason for this is because there are quite a few bugs in the current version of Hurricane which I, quite simply, would probably spend weeks going through all of the coding to fix all of these bugs. Therefore it's much simply to recode the entire game. And it is because of this that this version will only start with one mode; to start testing for bugs early on rather than make a bunch of modes and find a bunch of bugs at once.
This new version will feature roughly the same graphics (different grass and that's it) though a completely different map. Same dimensions (50x50), just with a new layout.
With the way I am programming the version, expect less lag when the game boots up (Cheers can be heard from all of the fans). This is because I plan on not using special lighting features that I used in the previous version, which created enormous lag. And a few other minor things will also be done to fix the lag issue.
With those fixes stated, I will touch upon what I am adding.
For one, I am using a new feature technically called "3D Hearing." This is a feature that I told myself I'd use if I ever recoded this game, and since I am, I'm using it. What this feature will do is, whenever, for example, an object hits a wall, let's say it's north east of you, you will hear the sound as if it's actually at a distance away, coming from the north east. The feature is hard to explain, but once you boot up this game, if you have speakers, you'll know, instantly, what I am talking about here.
Another addition is "Advanced Debris." Basically, instead of the debris flying in a single line, it will move about (in a general direction, obviously) to look my real.
I will also be re-doing an old concept I had with this game, which is basically whenever a hole is punctured in a building, the wind and rain will enter the building. I originally removed this from the game because it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do (it enter the building two spaces and stop), but I believe I have solved the problem.
More information will be announced at a later time, enjoy ^_^

Will you need anyone to help with the coding, or maybe any other part of the game. Because I would be glad to help this game.

No, I can probably handle everything needed.
Update: The rain is now fully functional as stated, though bugs may arise when building walls if I forget to add something in. I fixed a bug that I couldn't fix in the previous versions for when I had rain continuously moving in the direction of flying debris so that once a building is busted open, rain enters. Basically, it kep checking so often that you got lag spikes every second. I managed to fix this by making the game only check certain objects. I have the new map basically done, just have to add powerlines, flooding, death observing and the norm until I can release this version. And for some reason I can't host BYOND games anymore, so I'm looking for someone who can host a lot, if not 24/7. I want to try and get this game back up to rank 16 (highest ranking this game has held), and possibly higher with the new fixes and modes I plan to add. Here's a mode I have come up with. Flood Zone: A few minutes after the hurricane arrives it will begin massively flooding the streets every so often. I plan on making the game 5 minutes longer, so there will probably be a flood every 5 or so minutes (at least 2 floods, if not 3). In addition, no fires, though power will still do out probably. Sounds really hard, but trust me, with the new map and such, it's easier to survive. That, and I don't plan to have Trees kill you on impact (expect cards too though), but more or less just deal a lot of damage, Soda cans will be added back in, they'll deal very little damage when they hit you, and will hardly damage the walls, but will spawn twice as much as the trees. Something else I also added in, 8 debris directionals. Worded badly, I know. But basically, instead of the 4 directions that debris was able to fly (though it was typically only two in previous versions, fixed that, more random now), there are 8 possible directions, which can be a good or bad thing. But the new shelter is designed to always have at least one safe room for every direction. More updates will come as I add them. -- FinalFantasyFreak |
Okay, I have a very rough version of the Beta available for download for anyone who wants to host it:
