Firstly, apologies if this is inappropriate but I simply feel this game deserves a review. Super Saiyan Goku X’s Murder Mansion is quite simply a thrilling game. The immediate thing that is noticeable when playing it is the sheer detail, right when it requests you to select one of the few classical pieces in .midi format, most of which are more then suited to provide an invaluable piece of ambience in a horror game; music. Although perhaps not strictly a horror game, said term is perhaps the best word to describe it in the least sense. In the game there are multiple gamemodes; the one arguably played (and enjoyed) the foremost is the classic gamemode, in the classic gamemode one among the players (or bots) is selected as the murderer, and as the namesake implies commit stated atrocity against the others. The concern for the murderer however is not being correctly accused, the evidence being left behind serving as the primary concern which comes in many forms. For one, most actions of bludgeoning, hacking, or stabbing will render the aggressor’s hands bloodied which can be fixed by washing them in the nearest sink. But naturally murder is not that easy, as there is naturally the matter of the murder weapon which leaves appropriate ‘impressions’ on the victims’ bodies. But once again there are bypasses to this, but it is a firm check and balance system to this which reckless regard to can prove, fatal for lack of a better word. In this regard, it serves to be that it is not necessarily the most tense knowing your not the murderer, but rather you ARE the murderer. It brings to memory in cases where I as the murderer have been very careful and discrete in the most heinous affair, but have been apprehended upon successful accusation by the AI; whether it was from negligence on my own part, or simply because they were the only other surviving person serving as the reason. Even so, being one of the “prey” so to speak is not without it’s concerns; hunter or hunter as both you still have three needs, (four if you count your injuries, given you survive) hunger, thirst, and bathroom which are all can be treated accordingly. The detail does not cease there as well, as would be expected from the quality game this is; there are many little effects which have earned this gamer’s admiration; for one there is a line of sight, the camera is centered where the character is facing rather then where the character is, as well as being a sense of sound which raises it the immersion to an unparalleled level. Clocks tick, thunder cracks, and things go bump in the night quite simply, but what makes your blood run cold is when you hear that someone off in the distance yell or scream for their life. Perhaps by far the greatest thing is that it feels like the environment is actually part of the game; in storming weather people who go outside will get wet, they come in and leave wet footprints, they step in blood they leave bloody footprints too. Why, even the footprints have varying sizes to the character that left them, every character has their own traits at the start of every game. Of course, with this being a problem you can take costumes from dressers on occasions where needed, in the off chance that you are or may be witnessed doing something conspicuous. You can if you should fear for your life of the moment, hide behind or under things such as the odd table or bed, it is even possible to turn the lights off in a room or disable power completely as well as water. Water shuts off the toilets which can be very irritating, but they also shut off sinks and make a nightmare for those with MacBeth Syndrome. Murder Mansion is quite frankly a superb game, it is tragic to think that it may fall under obscurity despite it has so much possibility as a great game on BYOND. There are no servers running it as I write this, nor does it seem to be many people seem to be even aware of it existing. I felt obligated to write this review in hopes of convincing some of those who read it to give Murder Mansion the full chance it deserves.
