It misses an alternate conspiracy theory for why they wanted the oil so bad. (instead of just "we want oil")
According to some people, Iraq was going to change from dollars to using euros to trade its oil. Others in the area would follow suit, and then a whole bunch of countries that previously accepted dollars now take only euros instead. Then, countries that have a whole pile of USD lying around "just in case" would instead trade a large portion of them for euros (to buy said oil). The US economy wouldn't be able to take all those extra dollars back, and terrible, unmentionable things would happen. | |

That'd actually be a good idea -- defining oil in the euro instead of in dollars. The world needs an international currency and not just a single country's frequently-accepted currency. | |
