What I keep coming back to in my head is that people who obtain a membership won't want it just to be some guild grunt. If he has the ability to make his own one-man guild, he'll feel like he has some power of his own. I think it's the same want for authority that drives many people to ripping zeta in the first place.
At least if non-members were allowed to join a guild, there would actually be more demand for others to be in a guild. Besides, if people get sick of being a guild grunt then it's just a $15 payment to having his own.

If you choose to allow it, non-guild members are free to post in the forums. I'm not seeing this feature...Where should I be looking? Or is it not added yet? |
Some kind of contributor functionality should probably be added back to normal blogs. What if someone wants contributors, but doesn't need a whole guild? A good example would be Elation, who recently recruited to guest posters to keep his blog active while he was away.

The contributor functionality hasn't been removed...but we are planning to remove it once people have adjusted.
In the Elation case, he can turn on/off the guild functionality with a single checkbox, so it's no problem to be a guild for a bit that has contributors, then switch back to a single-person blog. |
I don't suppose it was intended to be like this, but you can add stringless guild ranks.
Just hitting "add rank" will add a nameless rank. |
There's a little problem with managing the guild members... and that problem is that you can set your own rank to something higher. You shouldn't be able to change the ranks of people who are the same rank as you and above.

I thought I'd addressed that...fortunately, it's easy to delete. But I'll look into it. you can set your own rank to something higher There is not actually a concept of "higher" built into the ranking system. Since you can do anything you want with ranks, we don't know what rank is higher than another. Basically, this means that only a high level person should handle ranks. |
