In games such as:
Spider-Man
Naruto
DMC
Is the accuracy really important. If you were to play any of these games and the character didn't resemble their true image would you stop playing or would you be like "Gameplay over graphics".

I voted "Doesn't matter" because it depends on the game. It either copies the story or is original story just with similar theme (superpowers/jutsus/monsters in balls/other objects).

I voted no largely because fangames that remain true to the animes/manga are destined to not really be games.
.Hack//Sign and SAO are kind of exceptions to that rule. |
I think the better games tend to be those that are of the same theme without being exact copies. It also gives you freedom to mold the world in a way that fits the type of game that you're making. Some games justify this by stating that the game is set in the future/past. You could really go either way, but the game would probably be better if you add your own ideas into the mix
