Oh God. Argh. I'm typing without use of my left thumb. The story:

So I go down to the lakegrounds in our town for karate practice at 5 to 7.
My senseis didn't turn up, annoyingly enough- so me and my brother and a guy from our dojo just hanged around there for a while. There's this bridge that crosses this thin part of the lake that gives the lakegrounds it's name.
"Hey guys, I bet I can clear that bridge in one jump", I said.
Being Karateka, our leg muscles are good at generating a lot of force in a short amount of time- so I didn't need much of a run up to be going pretty darn fast.

I pretty much cleared the bridge. I landed out of control, still going incredibly fast...started tumbling along the ground, without being able to control my speed or direction. I tumbled so fast that I stayed up for...quite some distance. I went smack straight into a metal fence.

I lay on the ground groaning until the other guys ran up to me. I finally got up after a while and lent against the fence trying to control the aching and pain.
After a bit I looked down at my thumb, that had gone red with speckly dark red bits. Freaky. Underneath the nail was bruised too.

Then I started to feel funny. At first, the colours of everything slightly increased...I had to blink and lean against the fence more. The other guy's parents who were there was asking me if I was okay; I said yes, I was. But it got worse. The colours got brighter and the contrast of my vision got more intense- as if someone was photoshopping my retina. I realised I was feeling too dizzy and sick to stand, so I had to sit down. Then everything got worse, and the colours so great I was effectively blind to all but colourful blobs. Then a purple blurry mist settled down over the last visible parts of pretty much everything.

I could feel the pain in my ribs. Not on the skin, so it felt like the actual ribs were bruised. Everything kinda went a little hyper and tense...then my eyelids felt...heaaavvyy...I felt like going to sleep. I realised I was going into some kind of mild shock (I'm not a pussy...well...not much of one...I'm guessing I was going REALLY fast when I hit that fence).
My eyes suddenly fell closed and my head rolled back and on to my brother's shoulders (he was sitting next to me). I was going to fall unconscious! So I tried my best to wake up and stay alert as the pain got worse in my ribs. Then the other guy's mum came over with a bottle of cold water for me...the more I gladly drank, the less colours I saw and less dizzy sickness I felt.

Then I had to trek about a mile or so back home, every so often yelping as two ribs touched (it REALLY HURTS).
Plus I banged my knees. Making it hard to put pressure on them. Guh. I feel freaking terrible.

Oh, and I cut my lip trying to get some painkillers out of the packet, so now I'm pushing a tissue to my lip to stop the (pretty heavy) blood flow.

Woe is me, what a great way to start the holidays.

My thumb kills. I can't move my body left or right without causing myself NASTY pain. My knees kill. Thursday karate might be out of the question.

Urgh...

I got pwned.
Haha it sucks to be you!

_> Yeah I feel bad for you, get well soon =3
Wow, that was extremly long. I bet it happend faster then I read. ^_^

Poor poor elation >.>
Ouch.

If it was America, at least you could sue somebody to ease your pain!
Pfft, if it was America, he could sue everybody who lived near the park!
"Pfft, if it was America, he could sue everybody who lived near the park!"

As an American, I agree completely with that statement! =) But, I think Elation lives in the UK.

Well, that sounded like it hurt. Hope you get better soon. Something similar happened to me about a month ago. Well there was this big hill in between my school and the Votec building, and during lunch me and a couple of my friends normally like going over there because the food is better. Well, two of my friends: KT and Ashley, and I decided to roll down the hill.
Now, there was a tree at the bottom of the hill, and when your rolling like I was its kinda hard to stick your arms out to stop yourself. And, I hit the tree.
I'm not sure if you got hurt worse than I did (I think you probably did considering your descriptions), but it hurt all the same.
Anyway, I know how it fells to run into something because your moving to fast to stop.
Well, I guess I'll stop typing now. Hope you feel better soon!
man... that sounds a lot like an acid trip that i barely remember from high school...

hope you feel better brotha.
Hah, I had a concussion once. But it was a bike sliding on really shitty road, they put tar over the road for "smoothness" and it breaks off, making rubble along the sides. Tires turned I flipped over, hitting my head on the sidewalk. I almost went blind for a couple of hours. Heh, get better.
Ouch.

Feel better soon! =)
Pwnt.
Ouch!

I guess you won't be jumping over any more bridges any time soon. =)
:) Thanks for your concern and/or tales of injury, guys. =)
Not to sound rude, but you got what was comming to you. Perhaps next time you'll think twice before trying to show off.

It shounds like you cracked a rib or two, and got a moderate concussion. I doubt the fence had much to do with it. That tumbling probably beat you up worse.

I find Karate to be a poor substitute for martials arts. Most people only learn enough to get themselves hurt. Didn't they teach you how to fall before they taught you how to do flying kicks? You'd think tumbling would be one of the first lessons. :\

"Not to sound rude, but you got what was comming to you."

Hah, of course. =D

"I find Karate to be a poor substitute for martials arts."

Pfftt, Shotokan karate is teh 1337. Anyway, it's not as if we were in our gis, or with any instructors or anything. It was just me and a few friends, since no one turned up for training.

"Didn't they teach you how to fall before they taught you how to do flying kicks? You'd think tumbling would be one of the first lessons. :\"

Flying kicks? We don't learn that until much later, and I'm 2nd Kyu (2nd Kyu ---> 1st Kyu ---> 1st Dan/Black belt).

Anyway, I know how to fall. :p It wasn't the kind of situation where you could fall, as my legs kept me off the ground.
What, you just ran into the fence? O.o
Fences are evil I say, evil!
I feel bad for you, Elly. :(

Sort of. =| Ran. Yeah.
