I'll chuck you a membership as long as:

-- you have contributed to BYOND / plan to contribute to BYOND, and have proof to show it. This could be something as simple as helpful forum posts.

-- you're not a member.

Just gotta post here.
3 hours later, I expected a much larger response than this.

Nice work though Wana :) i like this kind of thing you've contributed so much to Byond recently, especially with that last contest which was went down very well.
Most BYONDers have been in school since this was posted. Give it some time.
If I knew something like this was going to come up I wouldn't have bothered buying a membership for the account my game is on... :P
well, here's an extension. =) Good luck with your game!!

edit: also subscribed your 'Mask of Illusion' key for 90 days.
Oh wow, I didn't actually mean to get a membership but thank you very much!

Ah, nice. These sort of things are always good to see.

sorry, I would have made you a member, but I don't condone stealing source code. GOA's founder has not made his game open for public use, so by creating a branch, you are essentially stealing (even if using the Naruto IP is probably illegal in the first place, lol).

I suggest starting a fresh project =)
That's alright. Bonus check coming in soon ^_^ and if I wanted to start fresh, I would've. J/s
@Vegetacoku: It was only a suggestion. Lol. And a wise one too. I think it'd be nice if BYOND came out with some new games for a change (that are actually good). Tired of seeing DBZ, Naruto, Digimon, and Bleach games. I think this is pretty much the "Big 4."

Is everyone scared to make an original game, just too lazy to do it themselves from scratch, or don't have the experience or help for making arts and sound (biggest issue for me)?

@WANO: Keep up the donations. I'm thinking of doing them again after I get everything right. Paying for college is just.. wow.
I know lol. I didn't mean for it to sound like I said it with an attitude or something. I was simply just sayin'. XD
Lol. I understand.
Ill take a membership!

I contribute to BYOND by hanging out in chatters and ummm -_-...

I'll see myself out.
I'm not looking for a membership, I just want to say this is an awesome way to contribute, and threads like this one are a pleasant relief from a lot of the more frustrating posts I usually encounter.

I think the reason there hasn't been more responses is actually because there aren't nearly enough people checking the forum, much less this section though. Perhaps some people should spread it around on the pager via updates or something? There should be a lot more interest in this.

@Xirre: As far as I've seen, it's mostly a combination of an original game being much more work, and the people loving an IP or two. Usually one of those that you mentioned, or Pokemon, maybe.

I think of the two, it's usually just them thinking they can't handle the extra work, or them just plain not wanting to. They're hobbyist, and/or amateurs, so it's not surprising. It is pretty disappointing, though. I wish the extreme amount of Naruto games being created would deter people from that IP a bit, but I guess there aren't enough Naruto games that the anime community views as good, or they just don't notice the amount of them out there.
i'm looking for a membership :|
@Toddab503: I did a little thing where people who are interested in making original games are eligible for being paid for every interesting update they make. 2 people volunteered. ._.
Jus sayin if I had an artist I'd be willin' to do dat Xire.
Yeah, you're not the only one. Definitely not. I'd have to say that's most people who are truly determined.

Just a thought.. is there a place for people to do voluntary artwork? A user submits a little draft or a well descriptive art idea and a few random people pursue it to help out or as a challenge. Like a.. small contest.
I do the programming, pixel art, and mapping all pretty much by myself because it's the only way anything seems to get done. It sucks that it has to be that way for most people, and it's a lot of hard work, but there are rarely any other good options.

It's hard to find the right people to work with. There can be arguments over quality of work, different interests that clash, clashing personalities, or just plain slow workers holding things up. I just plain gave up on it ages ago, heh.

@Xirre: Yeah, I saw that, and I loved the idea, but I hated the lack of interest shown for it. I was really surprised by that. The only thing I can figure is you might have to try advertising it more. You might even need to take it outside of BYOND to try to draw in some new developers. It's tough to get any good results from that, but at least it might work. It could be worth giving a try.

I think there just aren't enough people on the forum seeing threads like this one, and the one you had, Xirre. I really hope interest picks up for both you and WANO's methods, since it'll help BYOND.
Work doesn't really get done unless it's "professional" work where your life (food, bills, etc) depends on your job's income. So, yeah..

When I was younger I used to have a though, "Why not eradicate money and let people work at what they like to work at?" Yeah, stupid idea. Not everybody felt the same way I felt. Because if I liked something, I'll keep doing it. Teaching people math is something I like to do sometimes. Coding too. But, hey, I was different. Doesn't seem like my thoughts would have worked if that's how the world was. Without money that is lol.
I've been gone for a bit, but I kind of lost motivation for my game after being dumped by countless "programmers". None of which stayed focused, ever.

I'm still slowly making artwork, but I'm probably going to completely overhaul and revamp the artwork because it's 3-4 years outdated.
