Sorry, you can't. Unless you have access to another information leak, the Potter geeks are always one step ahead of you.
Seriously... I don't know of a single Harry Potter fan that doesn't go out and buy the book the first day it comes out and then spend the rest of the night finishing the book. Before they eat or sleep, let alone get on the net.
And these are the ones you're trying to ruin it for!
Just some food for thought.
Okay, this is just to bump my CS post. I admit it. Anyone else that would like to join, just post! And I need to talk to Hitako about the possibility of his server still. If I can set it up, I'll try to organize to play this weekend since I don't have school over the weekend.
Oh, and everyone check out GoodDoggyTreat's blog and thank him for showing you a glimpse of God.

LOL

The thing that surprised me with the last book was that I couldn't understand how a person could be so evil (the moronic kind of evil, not the terrorist kind; I'm not sure which kind bothers me more though =/) to read a 700-page book overnight just to ruin it.
It certainly didn't improve my image of the average American citizen =/ |
I agree with Kunark and Cowdude completely. People who try to ruin Harry Potter (or anything else) suck. It's completely harmless now though, since anyone who cares has read the book already and probably knows more about the unreleased sequel than the spoiler does!
I think I'll have to hibernate in the week preceding the release of the seventh book, there'll be so many people trying to spoil it. (And after I've read it, if I catch anyone on the forums or blogs trying to spoil it for anyone else, they will get a smackdown.) |
You know, since this is the last book in the series, she could write an absolutely terrible book and still make a lot of money off of it. All she has to do is sell it. The readers don't have to like it, because they've already paid for it, and there won't be any more books to lose money on =)

I read the 4th book in one day...7 hours, actually.
I didn't eat, sleep, drink, use the bathroom, or even move (Other than turning the pages) |
You know, since this is the last book in the series, she could write an absolutely terrible book and still make a lot of money off of it. I hope she has more artistic integrity than that. :-) It's pretty likely that some fans will be disappointed with whatever ending she conjures up though - just like book 6. Besides, if she intends to write any more books (non-HP ones), she'll need to keep her reputation. Not that she needs to, not with her money, but she has to have something to do with the rest of her life. That might as well be writing, since she's been so successful at it so far. |
You know Crispy, we could get her to Join Byond..I mean come on, she's probably a true programmer at heart just looking for a way to release herself. I say we get her to join Byond.
|
Hmm, if Rowling joined BYOND, and created a Harry Potter game, would we still be able to call it a fangame???
|
A couple of things I'd like to note:
1) Rowling will not intentionally write a garbage ending... Artists just don't do that... Especially ones that have masterpieces like this series, that have been carefully tended every step of the way... She's run a marathon, and she won't just quit 20 yards from the finish line... The story of Harry Potter is like her child in a way... She won't abuse it... 2) There's nothing really keeping her from just continuing the HP story after book 7... Sure, it will almost definitely bring the end of this "saga" of Harry's life, but what about stories of his adult life as a full-fledged wizard? Will he become an auror? A professor at Hogwarts? There's lots of room for more story here... Of course, at that point, she'll be walking a thin line between creating more of her world for us to enjoy, and milking the series as a cash cow... |
Heh, I reckon they'll be another information leak. To reduce your chances of getting spoiled by say, 95%, don't come online at all once the book is nearing it's release. :P
I spoiled the 6th book for myself when I foolishly browsed the YTMND site about a week before it's realeased. I certainly learnt my lesson. Snape kills Dumbledore! :O |
2) There's nothing really keeping her from just continuing the HP story after book 7... Sure, it will almost definitely bring the end of this "saga" of Harry's life, but what about stories of his adult life as a full-fledged wizard? Yeah...Unless...He...dies...or...sometehing. It certainly didn't improve my image of the average American citizen =/ Your comment, which implies that the average american deliberately attempts to ruin Harry Potter books for other people, certainly didn't improve my image of the average America-Criticizer. |

The story of Harry Potter is like her child in a way... She won't abuse it... Yeah.... She isn't a quantity-whore like Stephan King; she'll wrap up the series nicely, I bet. I personally don't read the Potter series, but I've seen one of the movies, and it wasn't bad. My Potter-obsessed friend I think has already told me a spoiler twist for Rowlings next book of the series :-3 |
I shouldn't have replied to this stupid post. It keeps paging me. Everything time I hear the pager noise I think it's going to tell me someone replied to my forum post, but it's just this :P

Hmm, if Rowling joined BYOND, and created a Harry Potter game, would we still be able to call it a fangame??? LOL. Rowling has said that there will not be any more Harry Potter books after #7. Whether that means she won't write any more books in the same universe I don't know, I don't remember the wording of the quote. |
