As far as I know, it causes no lag or anything, but it's rather... crazy. It's like having five variables to store your name.

Or if it's really that important they could just put a "Status" variable, and if it's "Frozen" they could use it for whatever else they need, and if it's "Training" they could use that and so on.

That works, and I use a similar idea for my side-scroller.
