In the following screenshot:
  • The image was captured from the female character's screen.
  • The male and female characters are in a group of two.
  • The female character has looted the corpse of a dead monster... and found a rare item!
  • Because she is in a party, the other members of the party must roll for the item, ala World of Warcraft

Looks good cant wait to play it.
Stats have any effect on the outcome of your roll? >_> -Haven't played WoW.-
Game looks more awesome everytime I see a screenshot, can't wait till u release it.

I don't think so. I believe it's all based upon the roll of dice. (luck). Like a roll out of 100 - highest roll wins.
i dont like that. because people chould make a huge party and the high level chould kill everything and the low levels just leach the EXP and steal items.
That's the risk you take in creating a huge party. But it can all be orchestrated by the party leader. Everyone converses, and if someone really needs the item, roll a need on it.
One question...How many people can join a single party?

When I played everquest, the thing that prevented that was EQ's enormous focus on team play. When you became a high level, you couldn't even fight monsters without a full team at your disposal. This means that nobody wants to have a weaker person on their team because it severely disadvantages them, thus preventing that. As for monsters one or two high levels could beat, those monsters almost never gave experience to the higher level people who killed them, which meant no experience for the other people either.

Although EQ prevented that cheating in a way, I highly suggest Silkwizard stays away from that approach. EQ's focus on team play made the game blow for a number of people. Solo fighters, clerics, and anyone who didn't want to spend 24/7 on the game.
The max is four players per party.

I agree with Kunark- games like World of Warcraft were kind of ruined for me after awhile because they cater to hardcore "Let's get a 40-man raid together" types of players.

As far as exp sharing goes- if a high-level player tries to "Rush" lower level players through a low level area, no one in the party receives very much experience.

I personally like Diablo 2's approach to the whole concept. The more players in the server, the stronger the monsters are and they give more exp/better items. Now obviously this won't work for the server format for Acheron's Awakening... but it's a very cool way to treat individual levels of the dungeon.

At any rate, AA will cater to both casual and hardcore players, but the casual players will come first.
For fuck's sake dude, just release the game already. I mean, let us level our characters up while you add the finishing touches.
WoW? That is one of the best soloing games out there. The only thing partys do is speed up exp gain, but not a ton. The main way they speed up expercience gain is just by making quests quicker. Now FFXI is a game that didn't know the meaning of solo. Without a group you where completely boned. You couldn't even live a few seconds against a monster that would give you any exp.

You just don't realize the difficulty of developing such a great game. You should show some more respect and patience, because it takes time to develop a game.
I've been working on the game about 6-10 hours a day everyday for the past three weeks. Trust me when I say that I want to release this game just as badly as you want to play it!
O_O
6-10? Damn dude. How many things do you need to do left? And, yes I do realize the difficulty. I applaud you for your dedication SilkWizard. Gj.
And yeah, I hate the fact that you MUST party on FFXI to gain exp. I'm in one right now *coughwindowerandimleechingcough* lol

EDIT: I hate my goddamn internet so much. I get d/c every 5 minutes. Time to get a new intarnetz

maybe this dude needs a IP ban from the game. it whould save everyone hastle in the long run, also if all you want to do is hardcore level up and collect items i recommoned geting WoW, this game isnt going to last more then a week if your gonna be playing 24/7 (i mean you can get to level 99 on WoW in a mouth, so the chances of this game lasting longer then that isnt that high.no offence silk)
Wait, so the rare weapons you gain from killing the monsters can be gotten by other players? If one person killed a monster single-handedly, would the other party members be able to get the weapon?
And while they're rolling for the item, the poor guy is being mauled by sea turtles. ;P

Problem is, define "single-handedly". Ideally, the play could not kill a monster that would drop a rare item single-handedly, if he could, the item would only have a resale value to him.

Also, in most games there are classes that don't necessarily do much of anything to the enemy, but rather enhance the party, be it healing or buffing. Would these players not have equal rights to said booty? There are just too many variables to say a yes or a no on that. What is best is to have the dice system and allow everybody a fair shot at it and possibly pass on it.

In WoW, if a party member is a certain distance away she doesn't get to roll for the item. This prevents party members finish up business in town from getting rewards when the rest of the party moves along, this rule also applies to experience and rotating loot.
